TGIF and wrap up of the TSD brushes: Today's brush is another creation from Jason @jtspartan and it is filled with a knot we both enjoy, an Omega Pro boar. The Fine Soap produced an excellent lather and hopefully it will be finished soon so I can put a new soap in this bowl. I do get consistent excellent shaves but epic shaves come and go, not too many of the lately but the Koraat 7/8 half hollow delivered the epic today.

Looks like a number of shaves left for that Fine soap, Keith. Do you have a new puck ready to go in there? Truth be told, that brush today is one of my favourites.

The brush is also one of my favorites, the knot is broken in now and just a joy to use. I am debating on either AoS tallow or MWF. The other bowl will always be filled with Electric Sheep.

    Just the Basics June!

    June 4

    Razor - Magic Shavette
    Blade - derby-shavette.jpg
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Post - Alum

While a couple of people remembered "It was a dark and stormy night" being the starting line of a novel that Snoopy was writing in "Peanuts", I have no quote to give you tonight to describe the day. Just a decent day that is now wrapping up and all's well that ends well. That goes for the shave too.

I decided to go basic shavette for June. Nothing more basic than the Magic. Plastic handle, fairly cheap design but this little razor delivers. I paired it with the Derby half blade for shavettes. As with any shavette, blade selection isn't critical. Just use one that works. I like using the Derby's here for that reason. Stayed basic with Arko and went to the big Omega Pro 48. My first "real" brush. I always forget how ungainly this brush can be. It's huge! Makes a bucketful of lather and will scatter it all over if you don't watch it. Three passes and I contained it pretty well and had fantastic lather for all three. Could have done many more and not run out. The finish was a nice DFS which, for a shavette shave, is good for me. A little warm in places on my neck with the alum but not horrible. I'll get it smoothed out over the next couple of days. Have a Freaking Fun Friday!!

Thank you, Clint. A lot of brushes have come into my shave den and left. Some I even regret having moved on, but the Astor is staying...for a while, anyway. ;)

Thanks. This working from home has thrown off my routine.

I started wet shaving in 2007 and mostly likely purchased the Palmolive about that time.
