awesome.i have spent probably $8 k in 4 years,most of it the last 2 years,but got significant brit gillettes for my collection.a good portion of that was funded by selling over 2/3 of a model kit collection,only keeping the 70 or so kits that i will build.many a few duplicate razors as well as i have been trading up set condition to near mint.my friend buys the others and stuff i don't use much.definitely cheaper over all that customizing my mustang..more than happy with my investment and could fire sale it and still do well.thank ful for a few hard core collectors feeding my collection.

Our collections are definitely investments. Realistically, we won't lose money if we decided to sell off our stuff. It still would be true, if we sold our stuff at a discounted price because we used our gear for literally pennies per shave. It's a win-win!

Early to work and shave about three hours later.
Prep was a splash of water.
Lather, as usual, was excellent.
This has been said so many times, I hesitate to reiterate it, but here it goes:
If this was the only soap I used for the rest of my life, I would be just fine.
There, I said it.

The level of aggression from yesterday's Canadian Tech to today's SR was markedly greater.
More care is needed when wielding the Gillette.
The new Wizamet, inspite of the irritating glue dots, was outstanding.
Not pictured is the Aqua Velva AS.

I own four Valet Auto Strop (VAS) razors, all of which I’ve shaved with except for my silver plated VB2 model. That razor and my NOS Le Coq Cage Head are the only two in my collection that I’ve never used. My other three VAS razors are all great head and face shavers. Today I decided to shave with the VB2. Tomorrow I’ll shave with the Le Coq.

The VB2 model was made between 1922 and 1929 and predated the Probak razor model that Henry Gaismann used to take over Gillette. It, like all VAS razors I’ve shaved with, turned out to be a great shaver as well. Software selected for the shave was Nancy Boy Signature shave cream and balm, and my brush was one of my four Jayaruh Custom brushes - the #374 Boar.

I loaded the VAS with a Feather FHS-10 blade and began my shave. The Nancy Boy generated its usual thick, yogurty lather with the help of the Jayaruh Boar. While not a fan of these particular Feather blades, my modified Gem didn’t fit well because of the raised indents in the blade receiver. Despite this, the shave went quite well.

After my shower and cold water rinse, I lathered up and had a good first pass (WTG). The Nancy Boy provided a great cushion as the razor sheared through the 36 hours growth of whiskers practically down to the skin line. The second pass (ATG) made short work of the remaining stubble and put the baby to bed leaving your surprised narrator with an excellent BBS, not quite to the VBBS level, but I’ll attribute that to the blade and not the razor. I feel clean, smooth and refreshed.

PREP: Cold water rinse
BRUSH: Jayaruh Custom Boar #374

Thanks, Andrew, me too! Had a fine shave with it! Just need to figure out how to use Gem blades in this particular model! No problem using them in the later ones!

Everything looks great, Joseph. Those newer Wizamets appear to be discontinued now as well. One soap forever? The good news is you will never have to find out.

Very nice, Jeff. There must have been a fair number of Valets made here in Canada as I used to see them all the time in antique stores for reasonable prices. I didn't ever pull the trigger, and I'm not even sure why, truth be told. Such a cool looking mechanism on them.

Switched out for another 'basic' razor from back in the day. A Red and Black set with a nice case set you back 79 cents in the 30s. This NEW LC is a well-documented fave of mine (as is the SV Felce for that matter) and Evan gave it a nice new suit. This turned into a fave/fougere Friday unintentionally. This knot isn't quite there yet, but is softening slowly. I've come to define the 'mixed' as 'looking like a badger but breaking in like a boar'.
I was in the mood to chase it a bit. Buffed the chin and caught it. Fantastic.
