I was going to shave tomorrow for Favorite Friday but I couldn't wait. I decided to rehone this razor fir the first time because I saw some flat spots under the light. I know. I am in a honing mood. Lol! Anyway, I didn't need to reset the bevel, but started at the next higher grit and finished to the full progression. This is a stainless steel blade which is supposed to be more difficult to sharpen, but I did fine because I used the arm test and lo and behold it was clipping hairs. This razor did a great job mowing down my 32 hr whiskers in 2.5 passes. The razor always performed well, but tonight it was much better than ever. I hardly used any pressure on this razor that it was just a pleasure to shave. I got an irritation free, 1 weep, BBS shave. Used a styptic to erase the weep. Applied the Old Spice aftershave and I didn't feel any burn whatsoever which tells me that it was a smooth shave. Have a good night guys! View attachment 228134 View attachment 228134

The Shave
Another day face lathering for a three pass (WTG, XTG, ATG) shave. Started pretty dry this time and incrementally worked the water in. It was way less messy, but does take considerably longer to complete. I am undecided as to which is the greater evil.

I got to use the new brush crafted and generously PIF’d by Jason @jtspartan--a wonderful Omega boar knot set in a beautiful white/blue resin handle. For a lack of a better name, I've taken to calling it the JOmega Boar. Because I wanted to use it immediately when it came, but had already shaved, I just ran some tests instead. 1st tried my bomb-proof method: palm lathering, which worked like a champ. Bowl lathering worked every bit as well, and today’s face lather was also exceptional. I love how easy it is to apply lather with this brush; no constant spinning or repositioning like other brushes I've used. Just paint it on and it stays.

No drama or issues with any of my passes, though the shave was not quite as close as yesterday. I’d say I’m a solid DFS today. I don’t mind walking away with an irritation-free DFS (ever), but if I’m going through 3 passes it would make me feel like a more talented shaver if I was just a little bit smoother. Don’t know if I want to try a 3rd shave with the same Voskhod or not. Two shaves with a single edge is the equivalent of getting 4 shaves out of a DE. 3 shaves (or 6 for DE) seems like it’s pushing things a bit.

Around these parts its mainly asphalt shingles , where a 25 year shingle last 11-12 years if lucky.

The roof is DONE! Yes I said it. So today I did a much needed head and face shave . It is also raining so its getting its first test.

Thanks guys ! It sure relieved the stress but now I have the wet basement to tend to. Not sure if it was from leaking roof but I do know the living room ceiling is going to be replaced. Then theres the bathroom, 2 more windows, siding, etc etc .

Took a one-day hiatus from the Jabonman to give this 3P soap a try.
It comes to my den courtesy of @Steve56 so, a big thank you to him.
I had not even heard of this soap prior to receiving it.
Smells exactly like Cella. Now, I don't have any Cella, which doesn't do well in a large rotation.
According to Steve, the 3P doesn't turn like Cella.
I did find this ingredient list:
Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum, Potassium Carbonate.
Nice lather; plenty of slickness.
The post-shave, interestingly, did include a minuscule amount of tingling.
Christian Dior Fahrenheit for the finish.
I smell far too good to be at work.

And....my experiment with Baume.Be will have to wait .....wifey confiscated the package from The Gentlemen's Groom Room when she signed for it. She's holding it for a Father's Day present. But....that's ok, we've been married 24 years now, and plan for many more.

Besides, another shaving item showed up. A very nice wooden tool box, that is going to be the storage facility for the razor collection, possibly even SE & DE blades (to keep 'em close by). A Harbor Freight item. Below is a stock image, which isn't bad, but it's nicer in person. Wifey likes enough for display in the main bathroom (and not buried in the closet or elsewhere). Very well put together, green felt everywhere. Of course an exotic wood would have been sweet, but then easily 10x'd, if not more, the price.

Top area holds the bigger straights/kamis with ease. The next drawers have dividers for 5/8 & 6/8 straights almost perfectly, then the other drawers have plenty of open space for DEs and SEs.

I have a stainless steel Friodur and it is breeze to hone. I have several stainless steel straights and I honestly can't tell the difference when honing or shaving. Sounds like the you put a fine edge on her.
