In most areas of Texas, it’s not cold enough from Dec to Mar to stop the amateur motorsports events... It happens, but very infrequently.
Thank you, Joe! Great shave, Joseph! Love how the blues pop in the picture! And thanks again! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I find them stored around the den, maybe it’s time to consider a den reduction Usually reality kicks in at the same time coffee does...... maybe I should give up coffee. Acqua di Cuba my favorite summer leather scent. It’s 180 degrees different form Peau di Espana. Wow, that’s a whole lotta Cella. You inspired me, I’ll use Cella tomorrow.
I saw a vid that Glen @gssixgun did where he lathered before stropping, then hot water rinsed with a washcloth, and relathered. Theory is that the beard is benefitted by the additional time. I found the experience to be quite nice. Bit of a problem if I go for the mounted strops though. They are in the kitchen with my sharpening stuff. House full of wimmen, fat guy walking around in his shorts with a face full of soap and all.
High praises for an inexpensive strop. Just to note though, that strop is 2.5” wide, so an X pattern is needed to cover a razor that is wider (which is most). You can get a wood mounted 3” leather strop for similar $, just doesn’t have the same length. All sorts of options out there!
Interesting idea! Will give that a go round. I strop right before showering, then straight out of the shower to shave
Just the Basics June Wednesday's Shave GEM Contour GEM Stainless PTFE (1) Anbbas Badger Williams Mug Shaving Soap Afta Fresh Wednesday is here and that almost always means it's a Williams day. Comfortable shave today with 2 passes for a DFS. After yesterday's try for a careful XTG pass on my lower neck trouble area, I only saw 2 small razor bumps later appear on my left side. With that said, I gave the slow, calculated XTG pass another try there today. I'm hoping no more razor bumps join its friends. After rinsing off, I did notice that left area to be a bit tender, so I used the first balm type aftershave I ever bought - AFTA. The Fresh scent is still one I really like and for a basic product, it gets the job done.
June 17th Schick E3 w Personna Omega '49/Walnut&Brass SV/Asylum Colonia combo Thayers A very nice 3 passer early this morning. Schick injectors just work for me- whether it is the E,G, or I that I currently have. Such easy shavers. Whipped up the usual exceptional SV lather and 4 hours later I still am quite smooth. I find the Colonia very pleasant, but definitely don't have it in the same 'fave' tier as Felce or Cubebe. Have a great day all!
Thanks, Joe. To be honest, this soap is one of my favourite scents in all of shavedom, with a performance not too far behind. It is definitely a tobacco scent- more Cuban cigar than tobacco flower. There is a definite citrus note as well. The company was sold a few years ago and has changed things up, but still makes this soap scent, in theory. I say in theory as I haven't tried the new product. The base is definitely different- it is still a tallow soap, but now has goats milk as well. The company's name is also slightly changed to 'First Canadian Shave' and this product is now just called Maximo. They list this as their take on a 'Cognac and Cuban cigars' scent. I had a few tubs of this older formulation, so I haven't bought the newer one, but I will give the new company a try when this tub is done just because I do love this scent and I'm hoping they haven't messed with the trains...
Awesome Auto Strop shave, Joe! Satsuma is most definitely one of the soaps I'll be getting towards the end of summer--you picked the perfect brush for it, too
Day two of the soap focus! Love the look of the hardware as well, Jim. That razor handle is very unique and looks like it would be quite comfortable.
