I read that story 40 years ago and it stuck with me for the very reasons you pointed out--I wish I could remember what the story was called

As some of you know I have shied away from using a straight razor because the last time I tried with the razor pictured my tremors resulted in some facial injury. Well, recognizing that weight assisted in my shave process, I strapped a three lb weight to my right forearm and had at it. The weight negated my tremors quite a bit and I was able to complete a single very slow WTG pass of my cheeks and neck around my beard successfully. I finished my second ATG pass of my mug with my Auto Strop which I also used for both (WTG, ATG) passes on the dome. I felt quite accomplished when I finished. Included in today’s shave were my Viking Silvertip Badger brush and, of course, the Nancy Boy Signature shave cream and Gel. Great shave! I feel clean, cool and refreshed.

RAZOR: Dovo Special and Valet Auto Strop (VC4)
BLADE: Feather FHS-10
PREP: Cold water rinse and Chel as a preshave Gel
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Nancy Boy Signature Scent Cooling After-Shave Gel.

Thanks, Jim! I’ll never be a regular straight razor shaver; I enjoy my safety razors too much. But at least I’ve come up with a solution.

Thanks so much for the encouragement, Sensei! I don’t plan on moving to ATG for awhile. I’ll never be able to use it on the dom, but that’s fine! My Feather Super gets me as close a shave as anyone could wish for on the dome. Even my Barber who head and face shaves me every couple of months admits that AC razors get just as close as he can get with a straight on my dome.

Thanks, Jeff! This Lucky Tiger aftershave is the only product of theirs that I've tried. I had looked into the shave cream, but it seemed designed more for brushless application.
My day went very well. My Mom and stepdad just left today after visiting here for two weeks. Fun times for them with my two kids (their only grandchildren). I hope your day was great!
