June 20 2020 Good afternoon guys! It's a Special Saturday Shave Shavette Shave #166 Parker SRB Rockwell 1/2 DE Blade (5) Rockwell Synthetic Brush CF Cryogen SS Aqua Velvet Ice Blue AS It is hot on Long Island so I decided to shave with Cryogen SS. Although I could have held off with shaving tonight or tomorrow, I decided that I needed another cooling shave. I have experimented lathering with Cryogen and the best way is to drench the brush and not squeeze it out. If you don't, then the Cryogen looks like glue. That is why I would never use the dry method with this soap. I still needed to add water to the soap to get a nice lather. You really feel the menthol after the first pass. I thought that I had a new blade in this razor, but the shave proved otherwise. I did get an IBSS+, but it took some effort. Got two tiny weeps during the fool's pass, but there was not any irritation. Decided to use the Aqua Velvet, instead of the matching aftershave. Got very little feedback. All in all, I got a nice shave. I still feel the tingle. Lol! Have a great afternoon guys!
You used Aqua Velva with the Cryogen I see. I wonder if a cold soap reduces the "coldness" of Aqua Velva or other high menthol aftershaves? What you say here makes sense with what reviewers of Bill Neumann soaps write....extra water is needed. From pictures, the BN does indeed look like glue. Glue Aftershave. And now with me bringing out the Razorock "Glue/Pancake" Lime Burst, I will drench the brush more. My other Razorock soap is more "puffy" than glue...I always use Aqua Velva with that.
I chose the AV because I hardly use it. I have matching aftershaves with most of my soaps so AV takes a back corner.
Great AV shave, Joe! It’s amazing to me that the Cryogen soap menthol fumes don’t get to you! It sits in my medicine cabinet, because I can infuse sufficient menthol into my Nancy Boy with M-Bomb such that it exceeds Cryogen Without the fumes from the latter. Particularly when combined with the Chel preshave.
I know how you feel. Two weeks ago was my first taco outing since Covid, when I took my two kids. It was nice to have a one evening break from making dinner.
