Thanks Patrick! About that knife shave....working on it. May do a Mayhem shave, not in May. Nah, it’s just a dopp bag permanently in the truck door pocket. And shavette shave #99, wowzers. Cool. Great job!
Just the Basics June! June 20 Razor - Feather DX Pain Stick Blade - Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum Now where did Saturday go? I keep losing days. Weeks. Months. Seems like since I hit 60 time sped up about twice as fast as it used to run. Oh well. Either I'll catch up or I won't. One thing I did right today was the shave. Another Feather DX and Pro blade effort using the JR54 along with Stirling Electric Sheep. Nothing like mutton tallow supercharged with that invigorating scent. Really opens things up. And it really provides a fantastic lather. Three passes and I'm once again near-BBS with no blood, tears or even sweat. Excellent shave to finish a busy day. Here's to a great Sunday!
Sunday shave and more retro fun, well retro as defined by what was in when I started this shaving journey. In the bowl is MWF, it seems to has withstood the onslaught of new latest and greatest SBAD killers as it still maintains active supporters..... and people who struggle to lather it. I would not put it in the top tier for slickness, just a notch down but it does leave a nice aftershave feeling. I remember when I was on the rodent website and everyone was clamoring for the elusive and magical M&F brushes. These were produced somewhere in England in a mythical place much like Hogwarts. It was always a sign of west having purity if Lee Sabini would reply to your email and you were a true believer if you were able to actually get one. I hate that kind of stuff so I waited for the fad to pass and bought mine on a BST. I have to admit it is a nice brush. Filarmonica razors come and go in popularity with the main focus being on the 14 model with cool gold etching. The prices have always remained high for good examples of these razors but I saved a bunch of money by buying a model 13, the difference is the 14 is 8/8 and the 13 a diminutive 7/8. I hated the cheap scales that were original and replaced them despite everyone warning me I would lower the value. She is fine steel and holds her edge. The shave today was excellent.
June 21st Razor: H&S Co PO76 17-4 Blade: Gillette Nacet (2) Brush: Grizzly Bay Biblical/Shoat gel boar Pre-shave: PAA Rabid Banana Cube Soap: A&E Asian Plum PAA Galactic witch hazel Stirling Glacial balm AS: A&E Asian Plum Good morning! Not sure about my new Shoat boar knot. Firstly it lost about a dozen hairs between yesterday's shampoos and today's shave. I also struggled to load enough soap, and not for lack of trying. I had to return to the puck for each pass. It's a gel knot so the face feel was of a well broken in boar, so no complaints there. Hopefully things improve with use. I did finish with a wonderful shave to start the day. Three passes for near BBS. Light tickle from the alum. Have a great day and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
