Thanks Andrew! I bought my 2 C-Mon straights first and then Clint and Jim enabled me to purchase this brush. It was the last one in tbis color, but luckily, someone rescinded their order so it was meant to be.
Gorgeous photo, Gary--the Proraso is looking so refreshing! I may have known that there was a 2 piece RFB once upon a time, but if I ever did, I had since forgotten. How is the shave compared to the standard 3 piece?
I just caught that maybe 10 minutes ago--2nd time I've done that to you in a month or so, too. I went back and fixed it... Geoff
Beautiful photo and gear, Jason! I've got a 12 year old myself. Great to hear that the family is getting back together again--these birthdays with family in town that aren't allowed to come over and celebrate have been pretty lame.
Awesome shave, Andrew! It's so cool when the kids get you something you want to use the very next day
June 21--Just the Basics June Gear Razor: Slim Jim Adjustable (9) Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (1) Brush: Razorock “Bruce” Synthetic--this is the “basics” part of the shave. The Bruce was the first synthetic brush I ever had, and was an immediate favorite; soft, but with backbone, and virtually indestructible, this brush was a lather producing workhorse. And did I mention that it was just 12 bucks? I used this brush for years before I gave it to my son when he started wet shaving three years ago, and it’s still going strong. Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple--prepared and chilled with ice water Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops AS: Pinaud Citrus Musk (2 Frost Drops added)--great scent but so easy to overdo. I’ve taken to splashing liberally enough to get full coverage, then wet my hands and take them to my face afterwards. Seems to tone things down a bit without washing it completely away. Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented The Shave Three passes today (WTG, XTG, and ATG), and BBS at the end. Honestly, the 3 pass shave was overkill. I will probably start limiting weekday DE shaves to 2 passes with some touch ups. I don’t need a BBS every day, and the less time I spend with a blade scraping against my face, the less potential there is for irritation to sneak its way in. Near BBS or DFS for the weekdays will probably be the goal--save those BBS shaves for Sundays, date nights with the Missus, and other special occasions. Still, not complaining--that BBS feels darned good Back to the shavette tomorrow--Happy Monday, folks!
awesome Tim..remember your pre-shavette focus irritation fests? great progress..i suspect your skin has "toughened up'..
thank you Tim.the proraso is awesome.the 2 piece rfb shaves the same as the 3 piece but is a little heavier and less head heavy out of the box.
Awesome shave Tim! BBS shaves are great, but I prefer the in between DFS and BBS, the IBSS as I call it with a straight. As long as I look uber clean-shaven and don't have blood or irritation then it's a great shave by my standards. I just like barber shop shaves at home. I smile every time that I use a straight because I save 20 to 30 dollars every time I do so. I am guessing that's the going rate on Long Island.
