  1. Fine shave and recap. Jeff! Glad the straight shaves are progressing nicely without injury. I love the look of that Colonial handle.

Gemini Shave Month (Twin shaves-same set up two days in a row).

    Rating: 4.5 / 5

    Razor: Fatip Grande Open Comb
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock (Green)
Brush: Brent Jacobson Tamarind and Ebony w/ Paragon 24mm boar
Lather: Pre de Provence No. 63
Aftershave: Pre de Provence No. 63 Aftershave Balm
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
    Stirling Tea Tree Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I have not use the Pre de Provence soap in a while. I figured a nice citrusy type scent would work well with the humidity forecasted for the day. The scent does.

I managed to pull off a DFS although the shave was not a smooth As I would have preferred. The shave was the third for this blade. Normally, I am able to get 5 shaves out of the Gillette 7 O’clock Green (Super Stainless). I am not sure if the blade was presenting a challenge, the slickness of the lather or a combination of both. I did notice that following the shave my face felt more on the drier side than usually. Therefore, the reason for the double balm treatment and the decision no to chase the baby.

Well, hopefully the repeat performance will be smoother.

Sorry that the shave wasn't as superb as you would like. There's no faulting the tools. The Fatip is a great shaver. I have the Piccolo model. It's not in the rotation, but is a good solid shaver. I like the 7 O'Clocks, but not the green. I like the Yellow, and have always found the blades to both sharp and smooth. Your software is definitely top tier. I love the Pre de Provence Balm, I own two. I've never tried the soap, but have heard great things about it. You definitely made the right decision against the BBS. A DFS is a very desirable shave. I hope your day goes well.

  14. Thanks, Andrew. The original handle was shorter and lighter and not very good looking. The razor itself is a great shaver. My problem is I get hooked into one type of safety razor and use them for awhile and end up forgetting how great the other razors in my rotation are.

You're missing the point! Jumping Jacks?? :ashamed001: I don't want to get the blood flowing. I need the boring drudgery of stropping to prepare for sleep. It's hopefully going to become my physical Ambien. :mog:

  19. Great shave report with your usual apex gear! I'm glad the Auto Strop worked out for you Keith. I loved my Cobra until I bought the Vector and General. Both those razors are epic shavers, particularly with Feather Super blades. I've never failed to get a great shave from either. I regret selling my Cobra, but will never get rid of the Vector or General. Hope your day goes well, Keith!

  20. It is exactly that, Jeff. Maybe in a future post, I'll do my order of shave grades. I just wrote to someone this morning that just plain "Excellent" means it was a stinker of a shave. But I've never had a "stinker" shave since joining here. Some close to that, though.
