I don't know how to rank this morning's shave..we know it was at least "A Little Excellent"(the lowest of the low). The shave itself was fine, save for a cut and 2 nicks. I felt good enough after just ONE pass, but went ahead for the second. There's something aBOUT that Razor-rooockkkk soooaaaapp. Yes, taken from the Aqua Velva commercial..in fact I returned to that for the aftershave. 0:35 to load the Jayaruh #59, and it performed nicely, as always. The cut and 2 nicks is on ME, not the Jayaruh. Strong Y formation work at the neck. The gang at Aqua Velva really needs to work on that spout. I just scoop up any excess liquid from the sink(and most often there IS that, with Aqua Velva). Due to the cut and nicks, I'll say Pretty Excellent. I thought to say Kinda Excellent, but it was a little better than that.
Thank you Jim. Thank you Andrew. I am ready for this soap to be done and gone. I actually took the time to weigh the soap over the last week or so. I have been averaging using 3-4 grams of soap daily so it is really going down pretty fast.
Good shave recap, Paul! I think the spout design on the AV may be intentional - the faster it's used up, the faster you'll run to the store to buy more...
June 24th BAUME.BE shaving cream Ralf Aust Simpson Chubby 2 Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Jelly ASB & AS/C - John Frum Busy lately. Commenting and posting falls behind, but did get caught up reading 30DC posts from Sunday til now.....short bout of 'O50CSS' last night (over 50 can't sleep syndrome). Today's shave was very nice. 3 full passes, BBS results with no issues. New shaving cream, BAUME.BE, directly enabled by @Primotenore. Bowl lathered with a Simpson Chubby 2 synthetic, a little dab goes a long way. Very soft cream, screaming yellow in color with a container consistency that reminds me of Castle Forbes, Art of Shaving, St. James of London or other similar creams. Resulting lather is slightly muted yellow in color, very thick and silky. Residual slick between passes is awesome, face feel is wonderful. A WTG pass followed by 2 super skin stretching XTG passes using this horn scaled Ralf Aust blade was lots of fun. Another cool straight shaving accessory showed up while I was traveling over the weekend...a Tony Miller horsehide 'Notavan' 3" Old #2 Strop, outfitted with heavy handles and flax linen option. Immediately before shaving this morning, the Ralf Aust made the first laps on it. Very fast and smooth draw on the super supple linen & leather. Helped make the RA a very smooth & laser sharp shaver. Followed my shave with a favorite, PAA's after shave balm called Star Jelly, which is slightly mentholated (awesomely invigorating!). Finished with what PAA calls an 'Aftershave & Cologne', the John Frum aroma. A wifey favorite which lasts all day for me. Hope everyone has a Happy Hump Day!
Super shiny image Jim! Love that handle on the H&S. Don't know if I could stick to plowing through one soap/as til done routine (switching it up is so much fun)... Awesome looking everything Clint. The brass Karve is so cool looking!
Such a cool brush handle Mark! Nice image too! Not so much fun with the issues on this one Paul....ouch. There's always tomorrow. Spout design...easy running spouts drive sales!
