Thanks, Joe! Haslinger offers several scents. This one, Sheep’s Milk, is the only one I own. It lathers very easily and to me it smells similar to a Dove Beauty bar. I can’t explain why, but the lather just feels great on the skin and the post shave is more than just a simple moisturized feeling - it’s more nourishing for lack of a better description.

The handle is not wrapped nor dipped. It is what the maker calls 'Brute de Forge', after forging he does not polish nor refine the tang and spine. It does provide a great grip.

Perry, it is good to see you posting again.

Bruce, I am happy to explain. The finish on the spine and tang are called Brute de Forge. So the surfaces were not polished after forging like almost all other razors. The spine has this finish so it is rough and that rough finish can and will scratch strops... so I use a strop I have already beat up and has been nicked before.

Sunday Shave: Barrister and Mann Reserve is one of the artisan soaps born after I started traditional shaving. I long stopped keeping track of what bases are offered and what version they are on, honestly I get frustrated with the constantly changing bases. The reserve line performs very well for me, it makes a very wet, slick lather. So it is messy and goes everywhere but the performance is there and I like the scents. As long as they don't change the base it will stay in the den.

Just went brush makes needed to find a way to keep us buying brushes they added a new handle material, ebonite. Fortunately Shavemac who makes some of my favorite knots, ships to Korea without complaint and does not impose waitlists nor rationing sells ebonite brushes. The handle does look fantastic, I like the heavier weight and this one has a fantastic 2 band (not D01) knot. It is one the top dogs in my den.

Today's razor is old materials meet modern artisan, a Wootz steel Snail Forge 7/8 half hollow razor. Wootz is an old process that takes time, removes a lot of impurities and leaves a cool pattern. The scales are mammoth tusk, so very old. The are gorgeous and I just can not capture the pattern in a photo.

Today the edges was just like velvet, amazingly smooth, the lather was very wet and slick and the planets aligned. An epic shave for Sunday.

I've had absolutely beautiful shaves over the last 3 weeks. Finally binned the derby in favour of a Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge. The Gillette blades are definitely one of my favourite blades, they maintain their sharpness longer than the feathers for me, but are admittedly less sharp on the first few shaves.

I decided to give the body shop maca root another try after my bad experience with it last year, i found it lacked slickness. So i used more cream, ( about the size of two peas) which is more than i usually use compared to my tube creams. And low and behold, beautifully slick, cushioning lather! I loved it so much, that i used it for 6 shaves before moving on to my col conk lime puck, which requires longer loading than usual (around 20-25 seconds against my usual 15) because the puck is quite a bit smaller so the surface area in contact with the brush is smaller too.

Overall fantastic shaves, and I'll definitely be re-writing the review i posted on this cream last year.

Gotcha! Thanks for explaining. Looking at the picture, the spine doesn't appear as pronounced as the tang. I would've guessed it was smooth and wouldn't be an issue. Apparently I was wrong. ;)
    Thanks again Keith!
