  1. thank you.i thought you had a canadian model.the 175 won't work with 3 hole blades.based on new series parts.
  2. Great looking shave and photo Jason. I hope your work settles down soon.
  3. Thank you, Clint. All is good and I anticipate having a few slower days by the end of this week.
  4. That sounds great. Work for me has been crazy. I feel like I’ve been trying to drink water from a fire hydrant.

  5. Jeff I used to own the SS and own the DX. The SS has a lip at the edge that makes finding the angle tricky but will draw blood with ease. The DX is more like a true straight razors, it feel like a wedge and does not have that crazy lip, it is an excellent razor. If find that shavettes cut more easily than a traditional straight razor, so you don't have to strop but the probability of drawing blood is increased.
  6. Tuesday Shave: Continuing my focus on 'newer' products today's soap is Fine Shaving Soap. They made their name in aftershaves which I use frequently and then added hard soaps. The soap is a performer but unlike their aftershaves there is little to no scent. It is a good deal given the performance.

Chinese brushes have come a long way and today's 'Space' Yaqi badger brush is a good example. I like the handle and in my opinion both the handles and knots have improved greatly since I started traditional shaving.

It truly is the golden age of wet shaving to me, all the old razors plus all the new razors. Today features and big 8/8 Osiris with a 3/4 grind, she is a big girl. It will like cause some disagreement but I find the modern razors of higher quality than the really old razors.... on average. This razor is beautiful done from blade to scales and is made of excellent steel. She has a lot of shaves on the original edge but I think it is time for a touch up.

  7. My "cold weather shave" this morning failed the test to use this summer. It was The Soap Exchange soap(Lumberjack) with AgadirMen aftershave. Just didn't feel right to keep around this summer, thus it will be ready to resume in the fall/winter. Fine shave overall, albeit a cut just above the upper lip(under the schnozz). 2 passes. TSE does have a Cool Mint, thus they are a 4-season company(well, like all of them, I suppose). Will try another cold-weather one tomorrow, my other Texas soap(see SOTD). That one looks more moist than the TSE Lumberjack. It is supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow, therefore it might be comfortable enough. Clubman for the A.S.(I better not be "sweatin' Clubman again!).
  8. Beautiful Gary. Where do you find these gems?

  9. Thanks, Joe! I appreciate your input. I believe the SS shavettes cost well under $100 on Amazon. I don’t know what Ben spent, but I believe you’re thinking of the DX models.

  10. Thanks, Keith, since I’m trying not to spend anything more for straights, I think I’ll accept his gift. If it doesn’t work for me, I’ll consider the DX.

  18. I don’t head shave. I have tried a few times. Since this COVID situation, I purchased a barbershop razor to buzz my head on the lowest setting. It leaves a little fuzz, the missus prefers that as opposed to the clean dome.
Once fall arrives, I tend to let it grow in a bit since I do not like my head cold. I head back to the barber for a nice haircut and hot lather finish on the neck. My favorite part of the process.
It the past I have treated myself to a hot lather shave, very nice but now I enjoy the whole process with my straight. Yes, ice water brush scuttle for the summer and early fall. In the winter, it will be back to hot water in the scuttle.
