  1. June 30--Just the Basics June

I’m supposed to save my best for July, but I’m getting an early start with the Focus R21 shavette and jtspartan Omega boar (heretofore referred to respectively as the Max Headroom Focus R21 and the JOmegan boar).

    Gear
    • Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Shavette
    • Blade: Gillette Rubie (1)
    • Brush: JOmegan boar
    • Soap: Stirling Glastonbury (prepared and chilled with ice water)
    • Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops
    • AS: Clubman Original (2 Frost Drops added)
    • Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented

    The Shave
I used to load directly on my shave sticks, then build a lather on my palm. I got a perfect lather every time, but it’s messy. Also, since moving on to ice water shaving, I’ve found using a bowl is the best way to get the lather niiiiice and chilly, but a big brush in a small salsa bowl can be finicky business sometimes--I intend to master the art by the end of this month

Went with a 2 pass shave today. WTG, then an XTG/ATG hybrid. The results were a bit sporadic, but passable (and above all, comfy). BBS in some parts, DFS in others, and the usual suspects (southernmost part of the chin and hollows of the neck, I’m looking at you) wound up with a CCS. If I add them all up and divide by three, I get a DFS--a passably great and comfortable weekday shave

Hope it’s been, and continues to be, a terrific Tuesday! :D

  3. Great shave and post, Tim! I’ve been admiring that brush in your past few posts. Makes sense since @jtspartan does such great work.

  4. That's quite an endorsement! I will keep Eufros in mind.

  5. Nice shave and post Andrew! I justify my spending by saving 40 dollars going to a barber for a professional straight razor shave. So, that's about $5,000 in savings by not going to a barber 3 days a week.

  7. Here in Cobb, we received emails last week stating Aug 3 start and two options. In class or online. No switching back and forth just like in Perry’s case. Yes it will be a mess. My two kids want the in class option. Marching band practice starts in two weeks too.
  8. Great shave, Andrew! It’s always fun returning to our origins! I guess I should probably join you, and kick off July by shaving with one of my Schick Kronas tomorrow morning. I shaved for 50 years with the same razor until it finally broke! That's what I’ll do; Schick Krona for the dome and use my Feather SS AC straight razor for the mug.

  14. Excellent shave, Tim. Love the photo! Tomorrow I’ll be shaving with the Feather SS Barber’s razor my son gave to me when he traded up to the DX and a Schick Krona for the dome.
  15. Thanks, Jeff! It was great how the original kit worked better than ever today! The Krona shave sounds like a great plan.

  18. thank you Perry.for me it's due.it's more the "what does a 53 year old guy do to reinvent himself" question..:)
  19. From what my son tells me, it will definitely be different this year for band. He’s a section leader so he’s been on weekly calls for several weeks to figure it out. Can’t set anything solid though until the school board provides their guidance.
  20. awesome shave Joseph..
