Thank you, Jason! The Polsilvers carry all kinds of baggage for me: love the performance, am less of a fan of the price (but can tolerate it), and hate the hoops you have to jump through to find a large supply of them. Accessibility is an important factor for me, and unless you are buying 5 or 10 blades at a time Polsilvers currently are not an accessible blade. It sounds kind of stupid, but something in me rebels against the idea of perpetuating that
Thank you, Perry! Yes it is, but the scent disappeared on me so I had to add the aftershave and closed the lid for a day to get it back. It isn't the same as it was new, but at least there is some scent to smell while using it.
I have no idea why they are so hard to get. I occasionally see posts where people say they are no longer being produced or will soon go out of production. I'll say this: if you can get a tuck or two, they are worth trying--sharp and smooth! Phenomenal blades. I like them more than feathers. But they are not magic; they are just razor blades. Would I pay $10 for 10 of them? No. There are plenty of blades out there that are comparable and considerably easier to obtain.
Wow! That was a pretty decent price, all things considered. Not surprised they sold out. On the other side of the spectrum, I saw someone on the bay selling 94 them for close to $100
Thank you, Jeff! The Feather SS kami is a gorgeous shaver. I personally enjoy shaving with a kamisori style razor, so you're in for a treat. You've already put in a couple shavette style shaves behind you--I can't imagine tomorrow's shave going in any direction other than superb
You should’ve seen the crazy high prices being bid for toilet paper in March when the pandemic panic started. I was fine with my TP supply but checked out of curiosity. I think the bay stopped those types of listings eventually.
Thank you, Joe! I think that is the appeal for me as well. Another way to get the job done, and I have grown to enjoy the focus it requires--kind of a way to leave everything else outside the bathroom door for a while.
Beautiful shave, Joe! That's great news about getting the scent back, too. Piacenza is such a light, wonderful profile
Thank you, Tim! At first, it was my favorite scent until it burned out. I didn't use it as much because the scent disappeared. It definitely is a great scent, but it needs to stay in the soap longer.
Thank you! This was razor sent to me by @Keithmax as a starter straight. It really holds a keen edge. Good steel.
Thursday shave ECWS Hub City Soap Company passaround Bowl: PAA Travel scuttle not shown Brush: Haircut & Shave Co 26mm barber pole handle synthetic Razor: Rex Envoy Blade: Gillette Rubie Soap and aftershave: Hub City Red Cabin In The Woods Today was my first shave with the ECWS Hub City passaround and I'm already loving it! The soap is very protective and slick. The scent of this soap is a version of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. I don't own the original scent but this one I like. The Rex Envoy delivered an excellent shave.
