    Fabulous shave following an early morning workout. No sense in slacking off just because it is a holiday. Following the shave, prepping for a mini BBQ with the missus and my son. Getting the homemade BBQ sauce and rub ready. I will be going to make two versions of chicken wings. Probably throw some burgers or dogs on the grill. I have not decided what I will make for the sides.

    I am continuing to enjoy the Oud forward shaves of this JustOneJuly. I have dialed in the use of the shavette with the Proline blade. It has provided a wonderful smooth three pass shave. I hope this continues throughout the month.

    All American shave products used today. 2 passes for a DFS and no irritation. The NEW LC is such a smooth shaver.

    Got up early today to cut up some maple logs to use in the smoker. Cooking ribs and pork loins with corn on the cob and baked beans today, which will be just right for me and the kids. Key Lime pie to finish it off.

    I posted something similar on another forum:

    I've often thought that I'd love to see Rod do a "April Fools" type of trick. It would be interesting if he came up with a fictitious company name, used his current soap base, and offered a completely different scent than what he currently offers (maybe even have Chatillon Lux make the scent, just to make it seem even more opulent). He'd have to make them in 4 oz. containers, otherwise the 5.8 oz. would be a giveaway. Then, he could get a few YouTubers to shave with this "brand new soap, from a brand new company" to generate some hype. He'd also have to offer it strictly from someone like WCS or Maggard - no direct shipping (again, the address would be telling). I have a feeling that people would rave about this incredible "new" soap once they got their hands on it.

    There are those of us who know just how great of Stirling is and appreciate the value of their products. However, with traditional wet shavers being such a fickle bunch, we're always looking for the next big thing. I also have a feeling that many folks consider Stirling to be a "beginner's soap" due to the lower cost, and feel that it doesn't stack up to some of the other offerings that are getting all the latest hype.

    I have quite a few soaps that are regarded as top-tier by many people, and yes - they're very good indeed. Stirling sits right up there with the best of 'em.


    Pretty much the same response as you got. Two likes, and I think one comment agreeing. Aside from that, the same cricket concert. Seems as if it's not the newest, greatest soap on the market, it's regarded as subpar by many.

    I never tried the "early years" Stirling, but have heard basically the same thing. I agree with you on the scents. Some are wonderful, some are awful *cough, cough...Texas On Fire*.
