  2. Monday's Shave

    AutoStrop B1
    Despined GEM Stainless PTFE (4)
    Jayaruh #314 Cocobolo Wood Badger
    PAA Mentholated Pre-Shave Cube
    D.R. Harris Arlington Shaving Soap
    4711 Aftershave

I wanted to use this soap/AS combo for today's shave, but also wanted some menthol. So, I added the PAA mentholated cube to the pre-shave routine and all is well.

The AutoStrop B1 (and its mechanical twin B2) provides me with the best shaves of all the AutoStrops I have. The only difference in the B2 is that it adds the word 'Razor' to the front of the blade holder. Very smooth, comfortable 2 passes today for a DFS++ finish and no hint of irritation.

  5. Great looking combo, Andrew. I had the Arlington in a cream, but think I'd rather have had it in a 3x milled puck like yours.

  15. Beautiful photo and refreshing Menthol Monday shave, Jim--the brush and software look like they came in a matched set. Are you now riding the safety bar on all Rex shaves?

I'll be riding the safety bar on the Rex from here on out. I'll also be trying it on every razor I have.

  18. Fantastic shave and report, Clint! I'm amazed that taking the Rex at a steeper angle (at 6.5 no less) actually produces a smoother, drama-free shave. I wonder what the mechanics are that makes it more effective than riding the cap?

  19. I don't think your problem is the wear and tear on the soap, Paul. It has to do with the hydration level of the soap. You won't get a nice glide of the razor if you don't have enough hydration. That's what is causing your high incidence of mishaps, assuming your technique is solid. I get great results with a thin, slick lather. There's no need for a voluminous lather to shave, unless you want it.
