Thanks, Clint! It’s easier for me to shave with than the Dovo Special. I like the way it looks too.

Sounds like a great shave, Keith.
That hard maple holds a nice finish for handles and bowls alike. One of my favourite woods.
Another stunner. Great job on the T3 transplant, Jim. Down to one day a week for the Astra Planeta, as I recall...
Wonderful pic, Clint. Always love seeing that tabletop, too. Yes, sicking that soap destroyer on the soap will obliterate it in short order...
Very nice, Pierpaolo. Congrats on the recent haul as well.
Great Tobacco Tuesday shave, Perry. The Justice sounds like a winner for sure. That G5 is such a looker as well.
Sounds like a great shave, Joe.
Very nice, Jeff. No SWMBO to judge a scent, and you picked Osage Rub? You are hardcore, my friend.

Joe, I am not sure that riding the cap was ever proposed as a means to prevent cuts or nicks. Riding the cap is the shaving angle that is least likely to cause irritation or razor burn. Riding the cap is not always the most efficient shaving angle but it is a good place to start. Many people over the past 5 1/2 years have stopped by for help in minimizing irritation or razor burn. I too don't ride the cap per se but rather use what works. However no matter the razor, DE, SE or SR if the blade angle is too steep it will scrape the skin and irritation will result.

Great AC shave, Jason! I find myself shaving more and more with my AC AND SE razor’s lately! Likely just a phase, I hope.

Thanks, Jason! I positively stink of Cologne! Gromit left me alone and went upstairs! This is heavy duty stink week for me!

Thank you Jason. I am ready for this soap to be gone. I had a great mail call earlier this week with some one new soap and two aftershaves that I am ready to give a try.

That may have been the case, Jim. I have no regrets about selling it. I ordered the Tradere because I understand it has some decent blade feel. It should be here by the end of the month. I ordered as soon as it was available.

Nah... there are a few others.
I only know of 3 ways to get a brush from me:
    1. Acknowledge on a weekly basis (at least) the rugged handsomeness and intellectual superiority of Canadians :happy097:
    2. Disavow any usage of Arko or Clubman near said brushes- I've seen what it does to drain pipes, I shudder to think of what it would do to Urethane...:happy036:
    3. PM me. :)
I'll let you decide which of the 3, if any, you choose. I am way, way behind on turnings, though.

Beautiful photo and gear, Jim! Looks like you found the method that works best for the Rocnel--buttery smooth and silent alum don't lie :D

    Thanks, Jason!
Yup, one day a week with the Astra Planeta. I may up it to work days again in the fall.
The Tradere. I kinda forgot about that one. I think you got your order in one minute before I did. Maybe this month. I think they've been getting polished and laser etched since we placed our orders in May.

Joe, I don't believe 'riding the cap' was ever discussed as a way to prevent cuts or nicks. It has been, however, a frequent discussion point on avoiding irritation. The central idea being that there is less of a scraping effect when riding the cap until the blade is engaged at the shallowest angle necessary. I do agree with you that there are razors that are more effective with starting on the cap than others, but I do support the notion that scraping leads to irritation. I find that reducing pressure (when coming from carts to DE or SE) is the biggest factor in reducing irritation. I think that 'No Pressure' is a sliding scale that changes as experience is earned.

EDIT- I see Clint already responded and said something very similar. Sorry.

I sometimes watch PaulHFilms on YouTube. He does 3.5 passes with the half pass being a below the jawline full cleanup pass, which he dubs "Pick-Up Time, Baby."

BBS speaks for itself! Glad your shave was good! I find that I really like clear Feather HiShave Gel for my straight shaves. I just rub it in with my fingers. Great hydration! I've also used Headblade ‘Slick’, another brushless cream. Both work well for me.
