  1. Great shave, nevertheless!
  2. Jeff, it is his shorthand for daughter-in-law.
  3. Joe, is it worth the swap, or should I ask for some dollars in addition?
  4. Thank you Jason. I loaded the boar brush like I was beating a rented mule. I checked the weight and actually loaded 6 grams of soap. Even then not enough lather. Yes I bowl lathered trying to beat this brush into submission.
  5. Thanks, Clint! Nate and I had a ball!
  6. Gorgeous shave Gary. Congrats on the Varlet. It looks fantastic.

  7. Ditto, my friend.
  8. Thank you Joe. I hope the boar knot gets better with more use.

  9. Excellent shave and report Tim. Congrats on the huge progress with the shavette.
  10. Congrats Myles. Great score.
  11. Very nice Patrick. Love the brush.
  12. The Fine Lavender is a pretty good dupe for Cambridge & Oxford. The scent doesn't seem to have a much depth or subtleties but I like it.
  13. Indeed. The worst of any blade I've tried. By a good margin. Even the VDH Ice Tempered (which also suck) do fine in the Parker SRX.
  14. Jeff, I find it amusing that you went from "I won't become a straight razor user" to starting a small collection, as well as considering trading a DE for one. The dark side is sucking you in! :D
And, my apologies if I referenced you as Joe in previous posts.
  15. Razor - Rockwell 6S (#6 plate)
    Blade - Gillette Rubie
    Cream - Cremo Bourbon
A/S - CL Gratiot League Square

I broke out the Rockwell for a run this week. It still remains towards the top of my favorite DE razors to use. This morning was a bit of a rush to get out the door with my wife for a grocery run, and to return a few items at Lowe’s. Per our exchanges the other day with Joe @Trigger regarding Cremo, that was this morning’s selection. Three passes without reapplying cream (just splash on a little more water and go) left me wanting for nothing. I was through the shave and had my area and gear cleaned up in under five minutes - and walked out of the bathroom with a very smooth mug.

The blade in the Rockwell is a Gillette Rubie, which I moved over from another razor. No idea how many shaves are on it - I’d say at least a dozen. It’s still smooth and sharp, which amazes me. Ether I got a turbocharged blade, or the Rubies are really, really great blades.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thursday!

  19. Your way is probably best, Jeff. My subconscious motto used to be, "just shave harder." That never really worked out all that well :happy102:

  20. Well, even if the "That's for you Paul" in the survey DID mean me, I don't feel pressure to recuse myself from reports of the survey, since "Paul" doesn't have a shot at winning the thing anyway. We're 1/3 into the month, and Barbarian has a very big lead, and could indeed walk away with it. Barbarian's lead is by 22(61%)over Finest Gear at 38%. Course anything can happen, therefore it's too soon to project the winner, but I like Barbarian's position as of now.
