  1. A relaxing shave and aromatherapy was definitely needed after all that power washing. Enjoy a well deserved down time, Clint.

  6. That's how an emperor shaves; use whatever the heck you feel like and as much of it as you want! Live it up while the Empress is away, sir--awesome report :D

  7. Jim and I both have a reputation as first rate enablers. :D
  8. Beautiful photo and fantastic report, Jim! Peppermint and lavender is an intriguing combination of scents that I would not have thought to put together, but upon hearing it, it makes perfect sense. While it's a shame you aren't getting a bit more lavender from it, if you have to have one scent overpower the other, peppermint is the way to go :D

  9. Thanks, Jim! I didn't want to push the headshave with the straight because it has been awhile, hence the pinch hit in the bottom of the ninth by the Schick E3

  10. Awesome photo, shave, and report, Andrew--beautiful New! Frankly, I prefer to pair scents rather than match them, and it seems to me like leather and musk pair well :D

  19. Joe, I don’t know about saving $40 but you do save. Let say the average cost of the straights in my collection is $1oo x 19=$1900. Now since I am an anomaly, compared to the average male shaver not a member of TSN or some other shave group, I man not be saving much overtime since I probably do not have another 40 years on this rock. If a person has two or three straights, my grandfather had one, then we are talking about $300 total for 3 decent razors. Given that a 12 pack of Gillette Fusion ProGlides cost about $45 at Costco. (Gillette claims that is a years worth of shaves). I am not buying that assessment. For the sake of argument, it is a six month supply at best. A little over three years with the Gillette blade you will exceed you cost of the straights.
For those of us that have fallen deeper in the rabbit hole, well you know....

It is more about the primal nature of being a man, the concentration and sense of daily accomplishment one attains going the the process each morning.

For me, all these straights as well as my other razors will eventually go to my son. Each prior to that will be carefully catalogued; brand, age or relative age, when attained and any other important tidbits necessary for each.

So it is not about the price, rather the entire process and leaving something that my son will always remember me doing and hopefully he will learn to enjoy is priceless.

Finally, we do spare the environment.
  20. Thank you, Gary.
    Thank you, Joe.
    Hope you like it.

Thank you, Jeff. Unfortunatelly this weekend is all about work and repairs.
But in the break I've lunch on the beach.

    Thank you, Tim.
    This greek Vetiver is outstanding.
Not a classy thing as SV or MdC, more intense and naive.
    Which I love.
