Finally received my ‘summer’ package. Received a RazorockS SLOC with a bulldog handle.
A WCS HD 110 gram handle (for the 37 slant head), a jar of Masters vanishing menthol crime.
A Semogue 1460 boar brush, and a Georgetown Pottery scuttle.
It’s been extremely hot and humid. Like, people are dying from the heat.
So tonight, I had the ultimate hot, humid shave.
PSO - Shave Secret
Brush - Yaqi Barber Pole 2 band badger
Soap - Masters Vanishing Menthol
Scuttle - Georgetown Pottery G20 scuttle
Razor - RazorockS SLOC, Bulldog handle
Blade - Derby Extra
Witch hazel - T.N. Dickinson (as always)
A.S. - Grand Bay Bay Rum
The Shave Secret goes perfectly with the Masters, and the Bay Rum, it’s spicy.
The Yaqi is a fairly large knot, held enough lather for all three passes, and touch/pick ups.
The Masters V.M. is just what the Dr. ordered. Even hot lather felt cold. Very pleasant indeed.
I had posted previously about my QShave scuttle, ( the stopper got inside the scuttle), I received my
G-town scuttle,( it’s got a pewter cap on the stopper) and it is a little deeper, very nice.
I bought a RazorockS ‘old style’ open comb, best shave of my life. So when I found out about the SLOC
I had to try it.Let me just say, the RazorockS SLOC is the best multipass razor I’ve ever used.
Not. Even. Close. If any of you are considering it, don’t hesitate. Get it. This was my first shave with it
and it was so smooth, I actually got a few slight nicks with a Derby Extra! I was probably a little
aggressive, since it was so smooth, also the Bulldog handle was a little heavier than a standard handle.
I’ll probably switch the handle to a Merkur 33c handle. But, I could tell right away, a little slower, a little
softer, BBS all day long.
Once the Dickinson’s was applied, along with the A.S., you couldn’t see a nick or weeper at all.
When It’s hot and humid here, A.S. tends to ‘hang around’ and feel ‘heavy’. So nothing works in these
conditions like Bay Rum. Acrid, sharp, clean, fleeting. In another post, I tried the Gabels. It made my face
‘sticky’, so I went back to what I considered the ‘pure’ Bay Rum, the Dominica.
Since it’s no longer available, I went Grand Bay. Pretty similar, l’ll probably try St. John West Indies B.R.
I spent the last couple of hours sipping Bourbon, Smoking a KFC cigar, and rubbing my face, I can’t believe
how close my shave is. So smooth! Can barely feel a hair, and I’ve got a pretty thick beard.
Today’s shave was perfect for the ‘situation’.
