Clubman Shave Soap, Masters Vanishing Menthol, Old Spice, the ‘Fat’, and, of course, Williams Shave Soap. Clubman, because I use their A.S., and I like it. Masters, because it s nice when it’s hot. Old Spice, because I use it a lot in the winter. The ‘Fat’, and Williams, because it’s good with a boar brush, for ‘situations’ when it’s dry, and you want some exfoliation, and a moistureization.
I think I only own five ..... 2 cans of barbasol 2 nearly empty mystery soap 1 vintage Williams I think from this point on I'll only purchase sample pucks from Stirling.
A den of 5? - SV Felce Aromatica - Fine L’Orange Noir - First Canadian Maximo Gomez (older one) - Palmolive Stick The 5th is toughest...could go with another scent from SV or Fine or one of the Stirlings, but as it is summer I’ll say -Castle Forbes Lime
If I was forced to only own 5 shave soaps these would be my 5. MDC Agrumes D.R. Harris Marlborough Antiga Barbearia De Bairro Saponificio Varesino Dolomiti Le Père Lucien Oud Santal
Um... I actually do only have 4, having gotten rid of all but the following: Proraso red, Proraso green, Arco, Palmolive.
In no particular order. Today I am in love with: Cella, red tub Tabac Stirling Margaritas Cyril R. Salter D.R. Harris Arlington As a cream bonus: Lea Menthol
There's no way I can pick out just three or five individual scent profiles, so I'm just gonna list my top four shave soaps in alphabetical order: 1. Dr. Jon's 2. Oleo & Company 3. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements 4. Stirling Soap Company
Those who know me well know that I only use one. It’s the stuff I make. It lathers well, costs me little and I can scent it as I see fit.
OK, I give in: 5 soaps, in no particular order: 1) Vintage Yardley 2) I Coloniali 3) Tallow Williams 4) Santa Maria Novella Crema da Barba 5) MWF
If I went minimalist, and I pretty much always have been, I would pick only one soap - The Soap Opera Himalaya Shaving Soap. Why? Because it works great and is very reasonably priced. The latter is particularly relevant now, given that many soapmakers have sharply increased prices in recent years. If you want a more detailed answer, my review of the soap is here. If I did have to choose two additional soaps, they would be Institut Karite and Tabac. I might buy either one of these once in a blue moon, as they are both pricey and outstanding. Inexpensive and excellent is hard to beat, though, especially for someone who got into traditional shaving to get better shaves and save money.
I've already down sized to 3 soaps: Cella (kilo) Arko stick (shaved and bowl pressed) Williams/Dove mix
If I had to choose 3 to 5 and nothing else, then it would be the following: Stirling Soap Co Satsuma (mandarin orange) Stirling Soap Co Spice (similar to Shulton Old Spice) Proraso Green (eucalyptus/menthol) Chiseled Face Cryogen Razorock Classic (almond/cherry)
