Envious of your vintage Yardleys: does the soap smell like the AS? And of the Tech: is it the heavy one, right? Is it as mild as his brothers?
Danke sehr, Joseph. Thank you, James. Today It's a not so sunny day, here in Ischia, so I've switched on B&W / Colorsplash. And the "color theme" was well balanced, luckily.

Last Night’s SOTN: Razor: Rex Envoy Brush: Alpha Bulldog Soap: Officina Artigiana ASB: Extro Freddo Pre-shave oil: Bedfordshire Beard Co Mango Balde: Sputnik This was my first shave with the Rex, the Alpha Brush and the Officina Artigiana soap. Starting with the soap. It has a scent I'm struggling to describe. It is by no means unpleasant and I quite like it. I am, though, at a loss as to how to describe it as it's a very complex scent. The soap lathered very well and a bit of glycerin and Proraso gave me a very thick, slick and cushioning lather. The brush was simply outstanding. The handle fitted my hand perfectly and the matte black anodised finish gave a very non-slip feel. I really like these G4 knots. They're up there with Muhle STF v.2 in terms of quality and have a strong backbone. I suspect that this is caused by the large glue bump and lower effective loft more than anything else. As I only ever bowl lather this doesn't present as a problem for me and I really enjoyed using it. Finally, onto the razor. I've been on the fence regarding the Envoy since it was released and recently had the change to trade for a mint condition one. I'm really pleased that I did and it gave a much better shave than I thought it would. I compared in against my Rex Ambassador on the 2nd and 3rd passes and would agree with the comments I have read regarding the Envoy being equivalent to the Ambassador on setting 3. It also has a draggy feeling which I quite like in a razor, so that was a definite bonus for me. All in all, this was a shave that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Decided to shake things up a little this morning. Reached for Musgo Real Spiced Citrus shave cream which I haven’t used in awhile. A light but very nice spiced citrus scent. Scent notes from Musgo describe it as an oriental fougere with citrus, warm spices and incense. Smells very nice and as a shaving cream Musgo Real has always been good. I have five of their scents. Not cheap but if you can find it on sale it’s worth a try. Karve CB with the C SB plate was on deck today loaded with a GSB. I love the combo and it is comfortable to use. Lovely two pass DFS and I topped off with Stirling Satsuma AS which is also a spiced citrus accord and some ADP Essenza. Happy hump day! Stay safe! SOTD King C Gillette Lord SS (3) Maggard Razors Lilac Surrey boar Fine Accoutrements bowl Maggard Razors Lilac AS Another fine shave with the new-ish King C. Last week I paired up the Maggard's with my Omega silvertip, and that produced a better lather for me with this very soft croap. Today's lather with the boar was on the dry side, and the razor didn't glide as well. Shave was a 2-pass WTG except on my neck where I did a 3rd ATG pass. The AS splash is really a soothing treat and I highly recommend it. Through The Fire Fine Craft have an excellent formula. Available at their own website or through Maggard's.

It'll be "lather, rinse, repeat" for Throwback Thursday(that is, repeat from today): prep-Nivea 4 Men Bodwash(Energy)in shower shave-Clubman Shave Cream(can)* razor-Gillette Sensor Deuce Pivot + DisposeABLE A.S.-Clubman Original(6 oz).* *both listed as originating in 1810, but the new Clubman owners should change the year.. Edouard Pinaud was BORN that year, but he didn't get his Clubman work going until 1830. It's like saying the telephone wasn't invented in 1876(which it was), but invented when Al Bell was BORN. Nice looking razors. They looks well made. I've seen you post HomelikeShaving before but never heard of them elsewhere. Margaritas is an awesome soap. Steve
