Nice shave, Mark! Based on your description of Pino Silvestre, I think the CRSW Juniper soap I have may be a good pairing.
My mom said I would have loved living in the 40's and 50's(well, course I DID live for 2 and 1/2 years in the 50's, chuk yuk yuk), due to how innocent and positive-minded the country was in those times.
There's a guy where I work who goes to a lot of auctions with his wife. They don't specifically look for/buy razors, however they buy boxes of various items, and often end up with razors. He brought a pile in one evening. Tons of vintage GEMs and Gillettes. Some in great condition, others, not so much. Out of that pile, I only picked the Red Tip and the Rolls. The Rolls are intriguing razors; that's why I picked it. I do plan on getting it shave-ready and trying it out "just because". There just hasn't been a pressing urge, I suppose. Kinda like the box of straight razors I got at an auction.... IH Red seems to be the color of choice by many. There are others that strongly dispute that. If it's staying in your collection anyway, it doesn't really matter if you paint it yellow, as far as value goes.
Wonderful compliment! Thank you, Joe! Thank you, Andrew! Thanks and thanks for the info, Blair! I have a DSLR and a small assortment of lenses and flashes but I use my cellphone for SOTD photos. Just being lazy. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Terrific shave and report, Joseph! I've never sniffed the real deal but I do enjoy my ADP dupes. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Years ago, my Mom was part of the antique auction circuit and maintained a couple of permanent booth spaces at some shows. She had an actual store front for a few years. I wish I had been collecting traditional shaving gear back then. Who knows what I would have by now. She tells me now that there are a few straight razors in her storage somewhere, I just have to go find them if I want them.
Transferring file(s) back and forth from DSLR to computer (or even more so to a tablet/phone) is a time consumer. Time efficiency is not the same as being lazy
Thank you Jeff. I have been using my iPhone lately and editing the photo on my phone or Mac. I am ready for the Tradere to ship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you Blair. I am really enjoying the Semogue boar brushes. I should have tried them years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
