  2. Given the sheer number of razors that Gillette and Schick produced, there are tons upon tons of them out there. Most antique stores think they're worth way more than they are. For folks who are really into the vintage gear, if they have a little ambition and hit flea markets, auctions, estate sales, etc. there are some real deals to be had.

I resumed work on a straight razor that I've been restoring last evening. I have two done, and two almost completed. I picked up nine at an estate auction. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good look at them prior to bidding. What I ended up with is a box of project razors. It's something I've been pecking at a little at a time, with zero urgency. Once the next two are done, the four completed ones will be shipped out for honing. I'd like to feel what a good edge feels like, and then determine if straights are a rabbit hole I wanna go down.

I'd be anxious to see what the straights in storage are, and what sort of shape they're in. If you find them, please share!
  3. Fabulous shave lineup Joseph. I enjoy reading your report each day. Thanks for taking the time.

  4. Stupid question, Clint....
When you edit on the Mac, do you resize the file to post here? The site always tells me that the file is too large. I usually edit on the iPad and use Tapatalk to post. That's a minor aggravation I'd like to get away from.

  15. Lovely and entertaining shave report, Maestro! That Barbasol razor is immaculate. It looks like NOS. Sounds like your shave experience with it was different than with my Barbasol FH which is definitely not in the same condition. Perhaps that may explain our different experiences with it. Hope you have a productive and enjoyable day!

    Shavette Shave #176
    Dovo Shavette
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (1)
    Stirling Boar Brush
    Stirling Sandalwood SS and AS

Today, I am dedicating this shave to Andrew @Droo78 because he asked me if the Dovo shavette uses blades other than DE's Well, the answer is yes. The Personna Hairshaper is the long blade that I use. Anyway, everything went well with this shave. The lather was nice and wet with the proper slickness. The new Personna blade is very sharp that I usually draw blood. Today, was no exception because I got an insignificant weep on my chin. Hit it with the pencil during the fiirst pass and all is right as rain. Thought I snagged my neck, but red liquid did not flow so I was grateful for that outcome. The Personna really did a number on my 40 hr growth because I had a DFS+ after 1 pass. However, 2 passes and minor touchups gave me a IBSS++ shave. The soap is on it's last legs and I believe that I only have enough soap for one shave. Applied a generous amount of the matching aftershave to finish this shave. Have a great Thursday guys! 20200715_191528.jpg
