  1. It’s a great razor, Clint, but there is a learning curve! The AS-D2 and a Feather blade are a winning combo! :angelic007:

  3. I get it, Joe! Different strokes and all! I’m still going to use my Barber’s razors (strictly speaking “shavette” is a Dovo copyright). I enjoyed the process, traditional straights are just not my thing, but I still respect and admire all proponents. After all, my son, Ben, is a committed straight shaver with a respectable straight razor collection. He’s already put in his dibs for the Double Duck and the Genco. I told him to be patient and wait till they throw dirt on my face, then they are his along with my entire collection. I’ll still pull out the odd straight now and then with the understanding that my son will handle what I consider onerous and you pleasurable, stropping and honing. :)
  4. I get it, Blair! I do enjoy open edge shaving, but I’ll remain strictly a Barber’s Razor kind of guy. I’ll pull out the odd straight now and then with the understanding that my son, Ben will handle the onerous stropping and honing side of things.

Wholly Kaw SS & AS - La Fougère Parfaite
Heritage Collections - Ever Ready 200 w/high mountain white
    Supply Co SE v2
    Schick Proline
    Zingari Man ASB - Unscented

Fougère Friday! This Wholly Kaw fragrance, while not officially touted as a Brut clone....is very close to my nose, just a bit 'darker' (more earthy). Wifey super approved. Lasts all day for me (most fougères do for some odd reason).

This is a donkey milk tallow version of his shave soap, super slick, awesome volume/loft, easy to lather, but oddly a little opaque on the skin compared to other artisan soaps (PAA, Stirling, B&M, A&E, etc that I have to compare to). Good bowl lather, awesome aroma....but this HC HMW knot is a complete lather hog. Everything goes into the knot, not much comes out. Face swirling splay is nearly the same size as my cheek area, with not enough brush area touching down without pressure (smashing). Frustrating. Painting on the lather works better, squeezing it out and hand applying works best. Easily squeezed out 3/4 cup of lather, and again after adding more water and a reswirl for the second pass! Argh. 2 passes with neck buffing for the Supply Co loaded with the Proline blade, DFS+ results, minor weeper. Don't use this razor quite as much as I should, the handle angle for under the jawline I've still got to work on. Couple squirts of Zingari Man ASB, followed with a smattering of WK's matching AS.....smelling great and refreshed for a Friday with no travel (yay, local event this weekend).

Firing up the BGE for some grilled burgers tonight! :eatdrink020:

Hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday!
  6. Wonderful shave and picture, Blair! Too bad the brush isn't working out for you.

  7. Thank you Jeff :). As I say, I'll try it in the humidity to see what I feel then. But I do feel good today.
