  3. Thanks Joe.....it's nice to get a perfect shave on a hot&ugly day.(Ugly being my new wave word for humid).

  4. Excellent shave, Joe! I find that when a DE loses its sharpness there is less chance of cuts, etc., but you can still get awesome shaves. It's just a matter of how far you want to push it before you bin it.
  5. Thanks, Joe! It's one heck of a shaver!

  7. Nothing like an epic shave to start the day off right. Blades always have their own peculiarities. I had one Proline AC blade that delivered 28 shaves before beginning to tug. Go figure. All the best to you and SWMBO!

  16. Hump Day Shave: I do have affection for Japanese razors and todays razor is a bit different. This Atlas 6/8 razor is a near wedge, all my other Japanese razors are full hollow. I struggled to get an edge on this razor so I sent it Glen, @gssixgun , she now has an edge like velvet. Add some liquid lanolin and menthol to the MdC today, the lanolin real ups the MdC a notch. Today's brush is a Thäter two band, a joy to use. Many people say brushes have great backbone but soft tips, then I buy the brush and to me it is scritchy or so dense it is a lather hog, not this girl. An outstanding knot in the brush and perfect for hard soaps.

Oh yeah the results? Epic! A spritz of Creed Milesime Imperial and I feel regal.

  19. Lovely shave, Keith, that razor and brush and aftershave are spectacular. My son, Ben, raves about his Japanese straights. He has a number of Tanifuji and Koshibasho? razors that he swears hold an edge longer than any of his western razors except the two modern razors he bought from Victor. He also has an Iwasuke? Kamisori with an asymmetrical edge that he claims shave like butter. Butter seems a bit of a stretch to someone like me who is struggling to end each open edge shave experience with all his original God-given anatomical appurtenances. Is there much of a difference that you've discovered between traditional western straights vs Japanese Western style and Kamisori razors? Just interested in an expert perspective.
  20. My sincere thanks, gents. I am honored that you think so highly of Kathy. The prayers and well wishes mean the world to us. It is wonderful to be out of the hospital and a step closer toward normal today. (We were in the hospital so long that we know many staff members by name and became quite close to a few of them. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.) We had outpatient visits this morning, hung around the transplant house, got adjusted to some new home medications and therapies, got out for a ride, and even did some recliner time (code for 'afternoon nap') on the enclosed porch.

We'll have outpatient visits for about a week, get a few days off, and then begin some scheduled follow up testing. I think we'll be quite ready to come home by then. I'm 95% sure we'll cancel an upcoming trip to Florida (probably not a good idea at present), and I think we're both ready just to be home and closer to friends and family.

    Thank you all. :)
