There is something extra special about a heirloom razor, nice was to finish the progression through your smaller blades.

Now for something completely different. My biggest blade is nearly double what I’ve been shaving with for the past month or so. A really pleasing shave. The heavy blade makes for easy light strokes as you can simply rely on the weight of the blade to do the work. Very happy I bought this one. #144 and I’m reasonably sure that the Latvian linen has been doing really well. The edge is holding up better vs the canvas and cordovan. I deviated from my usual Santa Maria Novella to try out the newly acquired vintage Yardley. It still had a tiny bit of lavender scent left - but not much - and the SMN lavanda AS made the perfect compliment. I can see how Yardley got its rep, it would have been head and shoulders above what was available at the time that it was sold. But there are plenty of soaps that are as good today, ABC, SMN, MdC, Valobra, etc. Post shave stropping, 40 Latvian linen and 100 Kanoyama cordovan. I’m trying to kill it by shaving with it but it’s not cooperating, lol.
Just like Karl today is an big change from my usual shaves except I went to a smaller blade. This is an amazing razor, not on does it take and hold a fantastic edge it has the thinest grind of any smiling I have handled. The razor of the day is a Saito SK-3.

I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
