Terrific shave and picture, Andrew! Thank you, Joe! Nice Saturday to you too! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
July 25 Sat. Special Afternoon shave! Good afternoon gents! Shavette Shave #180 Parker SRB Van der Hagen 1/2 Blade (2) JR #290 Synthetic Brush Chiseled Face Cryogen SS (New Puck) and AS Ok, this is my 2 out of 10 shaves with this new puck of Cryogen. I was going to wait until thus evening, but it is hot so why not cool off with this shave ASAP. Did my new prep technique by drenching my face with the brush a number of times and squeeze the water out as much as possible only leaving damp tips. Dotted the brush a few times and started to face lather. It looks like there is nothing on the brush, but when I face lather I get a nice, slick lather. Now, it's not thick at all because I am not heavy loading the brush. I still add water as I am facelathering and let my say it really does trick. Needed only 2 passes without touchups to get an IBSS++ without mishaps on a 27 hr stubble. Since this heat wave, my time between shaves has been significantly shorter because I am cooling off with Cryogen. I have 8 more shaves with my experimenting with my new technique to try and avert another gelatinous mess. So I will be shaving everyday to really put it through a rigorous course. Anyway, splashed a double portion of the aftershave and I still feel the tingles. Stay cool guys!
Excellent cool down shave, Joe! Do you leave the top off the soap between shaves? Just wondering if that might have a positive effect on the soap's consistency.
Thanks Jim! Thanks Andrew! I have always left the puck uncapped and upside down until the next day. I surmise the problem that I had with the first puck with Cryogen was that I had too much water in the puck despite squeezing excess water from the brush. The high concentration of menthol is water sensitive that it keeps it and prevents some of it to evaporate it. So every time I use the soap, I am adding more water that will be trapped in this soap. Therefore, the cumulative effect of the water will turn this soap in a gelatinous mess. Now, if it does get to that point, the soap is still usuable because it will still give you a slick lather. This is my explanation as to why I had this problem of the soap turning into a gel. Again, I will see how it turns out 8 shaves from now.
Delightful looking shave, and photo, Gary! Is the handle the biggest difference with the Deluxe Criterion?
