Thank you Joseph. This is a vegan version of Cella. The scent is very light pepper over a very light woody base. The soap worked fantastic with more than enough residual slickness for buffing of trouble areas without having to reapply lather. The scent is light enough that really any aftershave or EdT would work well.
Great photos Joseph. Good job finishing all the lawn work. Sorry about the nicks. I am the same way sticking to a plan when I should know better.
Thank you Bruce. I picked up the Cella to qualify for free shipping from Maggard. I am glad I got the soap. It really works well. Thank you Andrew. We did have a good lunch with Mom. She's 832 now, so we went through and made sure all the bills were paid and went to buy her groceries. At least she is set until next week.
Beautiful shave and photo Gary. Love it Andrew. The scent sounds fantastic. Must not go look on IB. Excellent cool down shave Joe.
Thank you, Clint! It's a scent profile I didn't own, so when it was on sale last week, I decided to grab it. I'm really happy with it.
Thanks Bruce! Cryogen is good, slick, cool down soap as long as I don't do my usual swirl loading the brush. Now, I still see some moisture and some gelling on this puck after 7 hours. If it is the same tomorrow, then I will dry lather the face and then add water to the brush. I am thinking that I have to play with the delicate balance with this soap. I am really doing this so that if any one wants to try Cryogen, then you know what you will be up against. Again, I will not make any definitive conclusions until I have reached my 10th consecutive shave with it which will be next Sunday, August 2.
Joe, you might consider spooning out a small amount and putting it on top of the brush bristles or in a bowl. Many people that buy and sell soaps do that a brush never contacts the soap.
I thank you for your help. I am familiar with that process, but I just do not care for it. I think that what I am doing is due to my scientific curiosity and to share the pitfalls and the successes of using this soap. Cryogen performs well as far as slickness and freeze factor. I am trying to minimize the gel factor and extend the # of shaves on this puck so that I can say that it is a fine product with a caveat.
Late morning shave, even later post. Razor -Parker SRX Blade - Astra S/P Soap - Cella Brush - Simpson Duke 3 A/S - Old Spice This shave showed that my technique is a bit rusty with the SRX. Things were going swimmingly until I switched to my offhand and started the downward pass under my chin. Evidently the angle was off. I definitely felt it grab, yet no immediate blood. That came along shortly. There were a number of other weepers that cropped up along the way as well. Nothing all that bad - just reminders that practice with an open blade is necessary. Nonetheless, even with the shortcomings, my face ended up smooth. The Old Spice was bracing, to say the least. Certainly not my best work, but far from my worst. If time permits tomorrow morning, maybe another run with the SRX will happen. Have a great Saturday evening, fellas!
Excellent gear, pic, and a fine shave Bruce! The neck and chin areas are the main trouble spots for shavette/straight shavers. Soft touch is the key and shallow, almost flat angle is important as well. Sometimes, I inadvertently have the razor uneven when I am about to land on my neck. At that point, I slow down and land the razor evenly flat on my neck and then proceed to shave by tilting the blade slightly upward to get a nice, shallow, shaving angle. Of course, if I rush it or I am not entirely focused then bloody blips will definitely appear.
