  2. Thank you Andrew! You only need a little soap to make a decent slick lather with Cryogen. My average was 4 light taps on puck, but I suggested 6 to 7 if you want a more voluminous lather.

  3. My wife's younger brother played attack for Hopkins. Smart, lightning fast, great ball handler. Unfortunately his incredibly agile small frame still suffers to this day from the occasional decking from behemoth defensemen.
I loved the sport but never developed the ability to run well enough to play.

  4. Well written, thorough report and stellar process, Joe! Although you proved your hypothesis, I still will shy away from buying a tub of Cryogen. I am a face latherer as yourself, and this seems too far away from my normal routine (just dipping with a dry brush does not sound appealing to me). With this puck, I would be more likely to scoop it out and bowl lather - which I know you do not want to do. I've had my eye on the Fine Snake Bite soap and I am curious if it would have the same issues as the Cryogen. Possibly not, because the Snake Bite it a triple milled soap, as opposed to a hot pour like Cryogen.

    Well done, Joe!
  5. Thanks, Gary! I look forward to seeing your Type L shave when it arrives...

  8. Love that Osiris blade Keith. A beauty. Super nice for both shaves even with the less than epic results.

  9. Thanks, Blair! I was surprised how well this LEA balm performs, considering the low price. Pick some up if you see it for sale. I got mine from Connaught, but I've seen it other places too.

  10. Thanks, Joe! The Potluck name seems appropriate as all colors are just thrown in there together.

  13. My 17 year old son pretends to act interested in my shave hobby. I occasionally have him do an aftershave check on me to see what he thinks and to teach him about different scents that he may or may not like. I did buy and set him up with his own razor and brush that he picked out (he didn't seem as interested in any of my razors or brushes) and told him to pick out any of my soap/AS sets he wanted. He picked my RazoRock XXX. I walked him through a shave, teaching him how to do a proper wet shave on himself. He now has all the necessary gear sitting in his bathroom. End result - he still has not touched it... I figure the more he sees it in his bathroom, he may eventually use it when needed (which isn't often for his baby face).
  14. Thank you, Joe!

  15. Maggards does have the samples. I bought them all as a set a while back.

  17. Thanks Andrew! Clint suggested scooping out the Cryogen, place it on the brush and then lather. That's a fine alternative, but then you are unnecessarily overloading the brush. I just don't like to waste soap and try to get as many shaves as possible from a puck. I never tried Snakebite so I can't give a definite answer, but I haven't read any problems with Snakebite like I did with Cryogen.

  18. Like I said, I am a face latherer like you and only bowl lather on rare occasions. I feel if I had Cryogen soap, I would feel compelled to scoop it out - so that is why I will probably shy away from it (although it sounds like a great performing soap).

  19. I understand. However, you can always drench your face and still use my dry method. You will get a great lather doing it that way as well. Just keep adding small increments of water, but never go back to the puck. That's why I said go for 6 to 7 dry taps because I know some like a heavy lather. Snakebite is a good choice.

  20. i face lather hard soaps once in a while, unless they are finicky, then i bowl lather most everything else.i will face lather some creams that won't take a lot of water sometimes as well.
