Yumm, My stepson and his wife are coming for dinner. I've prepared swordfish and Caprese salad. SWMBO made this outstanding peach cake from a NY Times recipe! Sounds like we’ll both be eating well this evening.

Great Hydromagic shave, Andrew! For the future white vinegar breaks down hornet venom immediately. Sounds like those dang bugs had it in for you! Feel better!

Fantastic shaves over the last two weeks, used both my new bundubeard soaps. Had a few issues with the kudus kick at first, there was a coffee crust that prevented easy loading, but after scraping that off the performance was excellent.

The rooi Afrikaner is my new favorite soap, its amazingly slick and performs very similar to arko but with better skincare. It uses a tallow base while the kudus kick uses a glycerine base.

My review for the rooi Afrikaner is available, but i still need to write the kudus kick review which i will do after a few more uses.

Finally retired the schick injector and switched it out for the fatip piccolo and it's now warm enough to switch back to normal aftershaves instead of balms, so ive been using arko ice mint for the last 3 shaves or so.

    Shaves 13,14,15

    Razor: Schick injector
    Blade: schick ultra platinum (13,14,15)

    Razor: schick injector
    Blade: Schick ultra platinum (16,17,18)

    Aftershave: arko cool mint

    Shaves 19,20

David, if you’re getting into straight shaving, I’d advise focusing on your face, and sticking with a safety razor for the noggin. Once you’ve mastered that then you might want to consider straight shaving your head. I never plan to use a straight on my dome, but more power to you for giving it a try!

Irony of ironies, Joe, Max Sprecher posted his shave on B&B today with a safety razor, albeit a very expensive one (Wolfman). Great shave!

Gorgeous razor, Evan! That’s the SS model with the olive wood scales, isn’t it? My first straight was a Dovo Special I bought 5 years ago. I just started shaving with it again in your absence. Great to have you posting again. Your 007 brush is one of my favorites. Hope your day went well!

    DE-Vette Report 3

Glad it was decided to allow a 2 week period to use this razor. The open edge at 90 degrees to the handle and perpendicular style demands a focused effort. I'll probably get 2 more shaves in before it moves on, probably 1 with a Feather.

Today I decided to use a Personna Blue.... Matter of fact, 2 of them,........stacked. Don't ever do this! After a rough WTG cheek pass, it was clear this was a stoooopid variation.

Back down to 1 for a full normal 3.5 pass shave ending up with 2 small weepers and some ATG neck irritation that I'd like to live without. Not unusual for me with this blade though.

If I were to pursue a new and improved open edge tool, with a blade holding mechanism at 90 degrees, I'd look for 3 things. 1) half DE blade format 2) shave surface to handle angle that is much lower when in ideal cutting position 3) a razor rest and store position hiding the edge.

I'm not sure I can describe my handling other than the use of grips limiting a wrist action and requiring arm move strokes more similar to a straight shave.

Can't really see it in this photo, but I hit it with some Brasso to clean off some of the patina that had started.

    Be well gang!

Take him for a walk and he’s a couch potato for the next 4-5 hours. Dog sleeps more than anything I’ve ever seen. The adoption folks said they sleep over 20 hours a day.
