"G in D" turns out to be a French required mark for plated goods, to distinguish them from solid precious metal. G for Gillette and the D is standard across all makers indicating plated metal.

So this razor made the trip from the USA, to France, and back to Montana.

This Single Ring still hasn't gone shaving. The Fatboy jumped the queue. But the Single Ring is cleaned up and ready. Dawn soak, a toothbrush, and the some silver polish have taken it this far:

Thanks, Gary. I was admiring your reknotted E-R brushes. I have a couple E-R candidates for reknotting in my queue. One is shedding so fast, the knot may extract itself.

That Aristocra Jr. is a 1st gen (out of three gens. total). Only for about a year in production. 1st gen was nickel head and silver handle and came in bakelite case (light blue most of the time) 2nd and 3rd gen Aristocrat Jr. were 100 nickel plated and came in the rectangular green faux leather case
    Happy shaving, Gary!

Your collection is so cool. I love how you have narrowed down your specific interest and pieces. And sweet brushes...cant go wrong with anything @Enrico had a hand in.

Switched from OC to SB for tonights shave. But the President still provided a very efficient, smooth shave. And this new Ethos Melange d'agrumes is FANTASTIC!!!!!

Haven’t reached for an OC in a bit and seeing a friend on a forum enjoying his new “New” LC made we want to reach for mine. However, today’s razor of choice is my Rhodium plated SC loaded with a Voskhod blade. There is much debate on whether the SC, LC or Deluxe versions are better but I have a few of each with different handles and they all shave wonderfully well. Quite the lookers too.

Lots of folks reaching for Nivea stuff lately and so I reached for some of mine today too. The cream is great and I love the clean scent of it. Affordable and great for travel. I grabbed the matching splash today over the balm. Again, nothing fancy just nice.

Three pass BBS shave. No hassles and no irritation. Topped off with some CK Eternity Aqua which really brought it all together. Grab some coffee, sun and get to the workday. Safe travels and enjoy your shaves.

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Very old and very new...

Preshave - mentholated Col Conk Amber, lather, hot rag, and rinse
Razor - centennial 1920 Gillette Single Ring, G in D
Blade - SuperMax Blue Diamond platinum (6)
Lather - Arko stick, Ever-Ready vintage knot banded boar, brand new Captain's Choice heavy copper bowl (really retains the heat)
AS - Captain's Choice Land Ho! (pre-release, a freebie with the bowl, got the LOTH seal of approval, she said pines/juniper, citrus - but subtle, it doesn't overpower

Very close shave, and the brush politely waited to shed until I was rinsing it off.

Beautiful razor! (And a great photo!)

I also have a rhodium New SC, that I always assumed was a replate. Were these razors produced by Gillette in rhodium?

Thank you Sir! Mine is a replate and done by BackRoadsGold. I believe they were either produced in nickel or gold. I have a LC New with husky handle in 24K and a SC New with a long this handle also in 24k. All replated.
