Jeff, you come from a long life of faithful servants to our county. Thank you all, my friend. My Dad served in the army during WWII in the Aleutian Islands. He was the Chief Baker for his unit, and he was part of a three-man machine gun team. (We have some old Army cookbooks in the family that have recipes designed for 250 men.) I can't imagine what it would have been like in those days, but I am thankful for those before me that have served so that I can enjoy the freedoms I have today.
I think Chef Boyardee had the right idea when it comes to serving size. No wonder he looks happy. I'd be happy too with a plate piled up like that.
Italy is a wonderful place. We met some good friends on a trip there a couple of years ago. We plan to return there with them once "things" calm down.
Thanks, Charlie! And thanks to your dad for his service. My dad served in the Pacific from Iwo Jima through the surrender! My great-grandfather was a Prussian soldier who fought in the Franco-Prussian war. When he emigrated in the 1880s the only skill he had was soldiering. He joined the Marines to become a citizen.
