I guess some people don't know what shave ready truly means. However, you have a nice razor and you were able to tweak it, so you won!
With all of this talk of honing, I decided to tweak my Elliot razor that I restored to shave ready. I took it to the 3, 1 and .3 micron films. Finally, I took it to the linen, then the Crox and finally the leather. I tested it by seeing if it can cut my single hair strand that is on the top part of my ear. I pick that hair sample because it is long and stands straight up in the air. It is also very fine as well. I did not hold on to this strand. I took one swipe and the razor lopped it right off without a problem. I would say that it finally has a good edge, but I will see when I shave with it. I have worked a lot with this razor on the films. I did bring it so that it shaves, but now with the retweak and the ear hair test, I believe I have it at its best. Granted, it will never be my best shaver, but if it shaves well, then it's all good. Hey, I got this razor for free so I am already ahead of the game
Joe, you coined a brand new test, the Poppin’ Ear Hair! That is one for the books! As a resident old fart, I have my own plentiful supply! Thanks!
Lol! I try to be creative Jeff! Eyebrow hair is also a good test. If the blade catches the eyebrow hair without pressure that is also a sign you have a nice edge.
I just noticed that Gary @brit is the all time high TSD poster. A very special congratulations! And...... He doesn't have to spend the night in the box. Thanks for being a great friend to all. Bill
