  6. Thank you, Gary! Joseph @Primotenore pointed me to that thread describing the mentholating process. I decided to try it out my way first, knowing that if it did not work well, I could try the grating method.

  8. Yes, I used a single blade, but I had headshaves with this blade so it dulls quickly. An IBSS shave is still better than a DFS shave so it's still a good shave. I had a great time being with Joe C.

    Boar Month - Shave #26
    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Drew Dick 7/8” Quarter Hollow Purple Heartwood
Brush: Whipped Dog Butterscotch 24 mm
    Lather: PAA Oud Spice
    Aftershave: PAA Oud Spice
    B&M Reserve Spice
    Additional Care:
    Osage Rub
    Barbero Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera

An early morning start to my day. Up a 5:30 with the missus was she get ready for work. She has to keep me in the lap of luxury I am accustomed to. ;) Morning workout with the X3Bar, Push day, which always kicks my butt. Finally a hot shower and iced water shave prior to meeting Joe, @Trigger, for breakfast.

I decided to bust out the unattainable, no longer in production, PAA Oud Spice soap. I am a fan of both the Old Spice and Oud scent so this works for me.

My usual three passes provided wonderful results. Today’s shave was the first time I used this DD straight since June. The main reason has nothing to do with the razor but rather my foray into the JustOneJuly themed shaves with the Razor Retro shavette.

I finished off the shave with a splash of Osage Rub followed by a combination of splashes; B&M Reserved Spice and Wholly Kaw King of Oud. I am in scent heaven.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

  15. Very nice shave Evan! I don't have that big of a brush, but I would think that it would be easier and quicker to lather your face.
  16. very cool.i get good results from the modern as well, used it for a number of years before the great artisan discovery, but the vintage is so much better.it's a shame it was reformulated..
