With the previous owner leaving the steel blade in it it really did a number to it. I’m not rushing on cleaning it but I do want it usable again. And it will get there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am going to try a few of these options and I will report back. Here it is after several soaks in dawn and water. Hot til it cools off. Even a couple days. I have left other razors in dawn too long and it has discolored the caps of some. But I’m really not worried about this one. It’s a guinea pig. But I want to be as gentle as I can. Some plating missing. A lot of stubborn rust left. But here are some progress pics so far. Honestly. I’m pretty impressed with how much plating is left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Even discolored, a good mild metal polish will usually brighten it up again. I like Flitz polish. Its my go-to polish. On the handle, and in cracks, I will put some on a toothbrush, and scrub it good. Give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. ..
I had to order some flitz because the town I live in doesn’t have it! But as soon as it gets here I’m going to get it done.
In hard to reach areas, I use a toothbrush with Flitz. It gets those areas where polishing either by hand or polishing wheel on a rotary tool can't reach.
My apologies for not responding sooner. Was working on the razor and I seem to have misplaced it! I took it camping and was working on it and I’ll be if I can’t find it. Will post as soon as I do find it.
