Your post reminds me of something my dad used to say when teasing his grandchildren! “You kids are too dang soft! Why in my day I used to walk 50 miles to school. ‘UPHILL’ both ways before I began my job and chores. What’s this allowance crud! Nobody gave me free money!”
August 31st Razor: Blackland Sabre L1 Blade: Gem PTFE (1) Brush: Alpha EverGoose Pre-shave: PAA Rabid Banana Soap: Stirling Glacial Black Cherry PAA Galactic Witch Hazel Stirling Glacial Balm AS: Stirling Glacial Black Cherry Menthol Monday Good morning! Yeah, I'm a day early but today seems as good a day as any to kickoff Stirling SEptember. Not my best shave. Warmer than usual alum along with a couple of weepers. The shave felt harsh. I'm not one to blame my tools but I'm going to blame my tools. I'm going to guess I pulled a rough blade for this morning's shave. I usually give my Gem blades a quick palm strop before their first use, forgot to this morning. Tomorrow's shave is bound to be better. Have a great day! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I have been away from the boards for a little while, but I am back in time for SEptember![/QUOTE] @jtface, Glad to hear from you James!
Beautiful photo and shave Jim. I find a rough Gem PTFE blade often enough that I palm strop the blades the blades as well.
It may be overkill, Clint, but I palm strop every blade I use, DE, Gem, Injectors, and AC blades. It works for me! Probably unnecessary, but haven’t had a rough shave since I began doing it!
Thanks, Jeff! The Sabre L1 is such a smooth razor that I should have put two and two together before I finished my shave. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
August 31, 2020 Supply Co SE V2 ●● Schick Proline Alpha Outlaw with 2 Band Finest Rocky Mountain Barber Co Sandalwood Shave Cream Fine Santal Absolut Aftershave I am with Jim @jluc and starting SE September a day early. This week I will be using the Supply Co SE V2. I got this matte black razor from the scratch and dent section for $49. It looks pretty good to me. For the week, I decided to pair it wit the Alpha Outlaw brush in matte black. This is a beast of a brush with a huge 2 band finest knot from Maggard Razors. During September I will be rotating through various shave creams in an effort to finish at least a couple. Today I went with Rocky Mountain Sandalwood shave cream. The big Outlaw did a wonderful job whipping up a rich lather. The knot is sort of a lather hog. I am hoping the flow through improves with continued use. Three passes and touch ups ended in a wonderful BBS shave. A splash of Santal Absolut and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday. August 2020 Recap The month of August saw 2 new razors enter the Ten. The Blackland Tradere OC and the Wolfman WR2 SB. Both have turned out to be excellent smooth shavers and will stay in the den for a long time. As usual the highlight of the month was following along and participating in the 30DC thread. The friendship here is something special on the internet. Also it is very nice to have @wristwatchb Charlie & Kathy back home. Thanks again for a good month. See you SEptember
Beautiful B&W shot and great recap, Clint! See you in SEptember! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
