  1. Sept 2 SOTN

Good evening gents! I decided to do an above-the-shoulder shave.

    Face:
    Shavette Shave #199
    Dovo Shavette
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (3)
    Stirling Boar Brush
    Stirling Piacenza SS and AS

    Head:
    Schick E3 Injector
    Schick Injector Blade (3)
    Stirling Boar Brush
    Stirling Piacenza SS and AS

I decided to make my lather very goopy so that it flew off my face onto my shoulders and chest. I just placed those escapees and placed it on my head. Did a 2.5 pass and touchups for a BBS - shave on my mug without irritation or blood loss.
The headshave was a BBS without any problems. The Schick E3 does a great job and I consider it my best headshaver with the Shake Sharp razor neck and neck with it. Double splashed the Piacenza aftershave all over the dome and face and it was a perfect ending to this A-T-S shave. Goodnite guys! 20200902_211351.jpg 20200902_211351.jpg

  4. Thank you, Evan! I tend to do above-the-shoulder shaves or headshaves at night because I can take my time to really enjoy it.

  8. Follow-up on the Dove hunt. This is the first year...ever I've been skunked Dove hunting. I didn't fire a single shot all day. The guys, who've all been working from home since April where all more interested in visiting. I had a great time.

  9. Best of luck Myles!

I had a theory that thickness of the blade makes a difference in how we 'feel' sharpness so I did a non-scientific test. I compared heavy ground straights versus full hollows razors. The full hollow razors felt sharper but in my ultimate test they performed the same when going against the grain on my chin and upper lip.

  10. Today's JWest razor is Nichiri "Real Japanese Hollow Ground' razor. She is 6/8 and has a very thin grind. Another day and another Omega boar and another CK-6 lather. The shave was excellent. After the shave I changed my mind not he fragrance due to the weather, switched out the Creed with Terre d' Hermes.

  12. I am afraid my enabling prowess will be tested when it comes to the Floïd. Back in the day, there was this European website (when you could still get these products delivered) that sold the Blue for about $25 shipped for TWO bottles. I was somehow prescient and stocked up. Stupidly, I traded one bottle for the SV Colonia 4.3 soap/as, which I have since moved on. It was a bad move on my part.
  13. This is confusing to me. What kind of coatings cut hair? Sorry, if I am being ignorant.

  14. Nice razor, Keith. May I ask what makes this blade "Real Japanese"? Or, is that simply a marketing term?
  15. Thank you Joe!

  16. Good post, Joe. What kind of Noxema did you use? They used to make a shave soap in a tube that I really liked and was able to purchase in Europe. Sadly, that is no longer.
  17. How much of this coating cuts vs. just giving the user a sensation? Can a "coating" cut hair? :shocked029:
I still am having trouble wrapping my head around this. :scared003:
  18. They're VERY rough. I made about two swipes before the blade got binned.
We have packs of GEM blades at work for scrapers, and all of them have the 009 on the spine. I wondered if there was any chance these might be blades for shaving, instead of being scraper blades. They aren't.
  19. Thanks Keith!
