SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 4, 2020
I’m really growing attached to the blade on this little Tanifuji Airi. It is so smooth and sharp. I know this may stir up a bit of controversy, and I never dreamed I would be saying it, but I do believe my face shaves seem closer than my dome shaves. They are both VBBS. It may be due to this cream lubricant that Ben recommended for my straight shaves. It has no soap whatsoever in it, and is definitely not recommended for safety razor use, too thick and gunky. Apparently this is the only stuff that his honemeister guru has shaved with for the past 25 years. It’s called Lush Prince Shave cream. As I said before, it’s too thick for safety razors. (Gums them up). The jury’s still out, but my first outing was quite positive. It doesn’t lather, but can be applied with a brush. In any case the Tanifuji delivered a lovely mug shave. My Blackland Vector loaded with a Feather Super cleaned up my dome and all is right with the world. I feel refreshed, cool, clean and velveteen. I’m off to have breakfast with Kyle Evans, one of the twin founders of Colonial Razor. Hope everyone has a great day!
