  1. Lovely pictures, lovely shave and a lovely day, spent with your wife.

  2. Nice, Charlie. I find the loading with my large knots challenging, especially with harder soaps such as Mike's. If I grip the knot rather than the handle, I get a surface area that doesn't splay away from the soap, but digs in better.
  3. You got that right, Joe. :signs136:

  6. Good post, Bill. That stone is interesting. What would be a comparable grit on a Shapton/Naniwa?
  7. Thanks Jeff! Have fun with the family today.
Thanks Joseph. I appreciate the advice and will give it a try. After using a synthetic brush all summer, it will take a couple of shaves to get reacquainted with the silvertip.

    SEptember Shave #6
    Reduction Weekend #14
    SE Shave # 148

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: PAA Starling V2 (OC)
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket 26 mm
Lather: Stache Soap Works E Barber
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Musk
    Additional Care:
    Barbero Alum Block
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

A very nice comfortable shave with the PAA Starling OC. As close to BBS without actually declaring it publicly. The soap is rapidly working it way to the demise of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I would venture a guess of no more than 10 shaves. Anyone care to say over or under.

Another beautiful day here on LI. I have noticed a chill in the air in the morning. It is time to consider closing the pool. The weather over the next two weeks will be in the low to mid 70’s as a high, the nights in the upper ‘50’s to low 60’s. Given that school will be starting for my son, as well as his various sports practices, I do not see him using the pool much this month. Granted I have a heater, but when would he be jumping in except the weekend. SWMBO would like me to keep it open until the last weekend September. This may not be a battle I am going to win though I have some valid points.

Anyway, have a threat Labor Day weekend.
  14. Thanks, Gents.

  16. Good morning all!

I know I'm not contributing much, sorry. Yesterday was a impromptu road trip on the bike and overnight stay.

Grabbed my weekender dopp bag, a change of clothes and hit the road.

It all fits in that little bag.
Being home is ok, but I got a 3 pass head and face shave that rivals some more expensive gear.

Maybe another road trip this weekend.

    All!
    Enjoy!

Almost nothing shaves me closer than a fresh Feather Professional Super in my Feather AC.
If your going to get a really close shave, the importance of prep and lather cannot be overstated.
In today's shaving world, there are an innumerable amount of quality shave soaps.
It seems that every week, we read about a new player in the game.
The people (person?) who makes Turtleship Shave Soaps doesn't receive a lot of attention.
That is a real shame, because this is a product that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the big boys
    and hold its own.
The first lather photo was taken immediately after loading and building the lather
"on the puck". It still needs a bit of hydration, but you can clearly see how dense and shiny
    it already is.

This photo was taken after the first pass. FYI, I face-lathered.

Now it is much easier to see how gorgeous this lather is.
The diminutive knot of the Rooney releases the lather easily and is easy on the eyes as well.
The shave was lovely, although I am often reminded how devilishly sharp these blades are.
You make a bad set-down...pay the price.
You lose the angle...pay the price.
I paid a few user-error violations, but in the end was granted reprieve.
Stunning finish to the shave with the acclaimed Santa Maria Novella Patchouli AS.
  20. That's a great way to spend the day, Clint! The N GA mountains are very beautiful.
    Great shave lineup as well.
