  1. Fantastic shave, Charlie (minus the nicks)!
  2. Thanks, Joe! I'm going to try using the PAA Cube pre-shave next time to see if it helps. I know that it will because the Cube produces enough lather just on its own.

  4. A good shave this morning. I returned with the Razorock Lime Burst soap and Stoylin Glacial Lime A.S. 0:30 for the loading dock to do its work onto the Jayaruh#59 brush. Nice sweeping work again. I did try a different method-going North to South over North Porcupine Alley(the area just below the nose). Well, a little different is what I should say, as I use that direction down the middle anyway, thus the difference was doing it that way on the edges. Appeared to work. I'll keep up with that. One (K)nick-off to the side of S. Porcupine. All else went well. The Stoylin Glacial lime cooled things nicely at the end. Super Duper Excellent. (Oh, by the way, I did the whole shave with the Gillette Sensor-no Mach action).
  5. Where did you stay overnight, Terry...Youth-hostel type of place(not that you're a youth)?

  6. That's been a a key problem for me when I use "Un-disposeABLE" razors.....Just when I think I'm set with the angle, the razor flips direction on me as I begin the shave.

  7. Nice one, Bill. You will get your straights where you want them to be. Congrats on your new Jasper stone.
  8. Nice shave lineup, Bill. Good read on the report, although most of the honing info is out of my wheelhouse.
Your Labor Day menu sounds like a winner!

  11. In a little town near the Ohio river.
    Chesapeake Ohio.
I didn't keep anyone awake, no one ask me to "turn it down a bit", and I didn't get pulled over or fined for anything.
I even stayed within 10 mph of the speed limit.
    I was good this time.....:D
My wife was with me see and it well.....;)

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 6, 2020

I’d ask for help, as I slide down this straight razor rabbit hole, but I’m just having too much fun. The NOS Nichigi Tokusen by Diamond Hayashi Co. Of Tokyo arrived unexpectedly early yesterday. This particular razor is immaculate and was sent out by the previous owner for honing by Max Sprecher. A quick touch up on the Jasper stone followed by a quick session on the pasted strop last night, and I was ready for business this morning.

The shave was amazing! I get why folks are so enamored by Silver Steel Japanese razors. Three slow luxurious passes (WTG, ATG, XTG) and an effortless VBBS result. In fact, the post shave skin feel was so good from the Lush Prince shaving cream, I decided to forego the dome shave today. I didn’t understand smooth sharp until this particular shave.

This Prince shaving cream is a pretty amazing straight shaving accessory. Time to make the Michigan sauce for the clan gathering tomorrow. I’ll be shaving with this razor tomorrow! I feel cool, clean and very velveteen! In fact I can’t seem to stop touching my face. This was an unbelievably close face shave! Enjoy your Sunday and have a blessed day to all!

RAZOR: Nichigi Tokusen 6/8 by Diamond Hayashi Co. of Tokyo
    PREP: Cold water rinse
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    CREAM: Lush Prince Shaving Cream
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Prince shave cream followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite AS Splash.
