    Thank You, Jeff.
I'm doing my best for me, my beloved and my community to protect from this plague.
Fortunatelly, here the COVID19 is not a big issue.
In little towns It's easier to control people.
Just now in summer with a lot of tourists, things are a little difficult.
But I observe strictly all the measures we learned.
And try to make others the same.
For now, all is going well.

    Finger crossed.
    :p

Very nice Joe. My experience with Fine Soaps is that buying them in the box the fragrance is very weak. This was not the case when first introduced but I wonder how long the simple cardboard box has been sitting around. The Fine Soaps I have purchased in the plastic container have very good scent strength. I did grate the puck into a bigger container.

Thank you Gary! I am looking forward to 1000 open blade shaves. I estimate it would be spring of 2023 when I hit that milestone.

I'll take the Dovo 300 back to the Naniwa 12k one day. I just don't have enough experience to be dogmatic on my honing at this point

Many of folks I trust indicate that assigning grit ratings to natural stones is folly. Even on this stone 1/2" thick that I surface conditioned the same there is a different feel one side to the other.

In my reading jasper can have a higher specific gravity than novaculite (Arkansas stone). Both fall into the broad category of microcrystaline quartz. I wanted a hard flattened natural to play with. Cost was slightly higher than translucent black arks in terms of $/sq. in. Because they are so hard, both stones cut/polish somewhat based on the way the surface is finished and/or the lube and slurry used.

Grit ratings are not even consistent on synthetic stones even though the stones themselves may be. The Shapton glass 30k hone is listed as a particle size of 1/2 micron. The Suehiro Gokumyo 20k stone (I still want one) is also listed at 1/2 micron.

I chose to pursue a jasper hone because Jeff's son (a knife guy & straight shaver) recommended it for him. I may still get a flat black ark.

It will work. It is not a magic bullet and does not negate that honing is a skill that needs to be developed in time and practice.

It does not take long for costs to rack up on $300-$400 rocks if one wants that route.

My advice for those who wish to be walking a narrow $ path on the Dark Side.... Get a Feather DX and change the blade every couple of shaves.

I enjoy this hobby and don't mind expenditures and challenges along the way.

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but my assessment.

It's easy for me to remember because I only have 2 soaps that don't have their own containers. My Mysterium Paracelsus is in my black mug and the Fine Italian Citrus is in my Stirling Sandalwood tub.

I got up early this morning and knocked PT out before 7:30. I then spent most of the morning drinking black coffee waiting on my wife to wake up. I earned some brownie points staying quite and letting her sleep in. :happy088: I decided to stick with the Damaskeene OC and Heritage Dubl Duck for one more day. I face lathered today and could tell the brush is already starting to break in nicely. Honestly I should have ditched the gel boar knot sooner. This brush will be a real winner soon. Three passes and touch ups ended in a wonderful drama free BBS. A splash of Fine Santal and I am ready to run errands with my wife this afternoon. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
