Nice trip as always, the weather is great!
    The shave was above average.

I'm not quite 60 yet, close, so I still have a few years to run down the road.
    And uh....
    I cheat a little :)

  7. There are definitely elitists in this hobby. I like top-tier items, but I don't think it is necessary to spend beaucoup dollars to get great shaves. As far as honing, 95% of self-honers use synthetic or natural stones. Expense aside, I just don't want to maintain and properly store them. With lapping films, I have enough to last me for many years and when a film is spent, then it gets tossed. There isn't any hassle to store or maintain them. Now, I concede that I may be missing out on a "better" edge from stones, but my blades are smooth and sharp enough for me with films. As I say, do what makes you feel happy and comfortable in this hobby because there are many paths to achieve great shaves.

  15. I have seen them on the net, but the financial outlay was way out of my league. I am not saying they weren't worth the asking price, but I like variety and to have 7 of the same razors doesn't appeal to me.
  16. fair enough..i look forward to your next custom set..:)

  19. while i haven't saved much money buying vintage gillettes over modern stainless i am happy with the resulting shaves.no blade maintenance to speak of but that's par for the de course.however, there are some modern razors i would love to indulge in..:)..
  20. Were you thinking along the lines of a Wolfman WR2, a Tradere or something else?
