  1. Teach a man to fish, and he can feed his family, but if you teach a man with a CNC machine to shave, he'll always be broke.

  2. Great shave with the Feather DX, Jeff. A Feather AC DX (probably the kamisori style) has been on my radar for awhile. I see them for going for pretty good prices on eBay, and I bookmarked @Edison Carter's preferred vendor when the mood strikes.

I gave away a Feather AC SS kami some time ago (it bit more than my Parker SRX), but I have a Feather AC SS folder that is still in the box. I'll probably break it out sometime soon.

    I've got ~450 Feather Professional blades (@Trigger that's about a 10-year supply ), so I guess I better start using them.

  3. I've replaced my Feather SS with this new DX. The shave angle on the SS is different than the angle on my regular straights. The DX shaves at a more traditional Straight razor angle. I do like this razor. I may have overtraded for it, but my son and I are both happy. So no biggie. Enjoy your Labor Day with your bride, Charlie. I'll do the same.

  4. Understood. I initially felt the same way, but my attitude has changed. Once I discovered I could build an edge that pleased me, that was that.

  7. Fantastic glacial shave, Jim, just in time for Old Man Winter. :)

I spoke to friends today from Rapid City, SD. They told me it was 104 over the weekend, and they were now expecting 5 to 9 inches of snow. Unbelievable. When they told me this, I wondered what kind of weather you'd be having in Colorado.

The weather's gonna be pretty rugged here this week too. :D

  9. The visit was great Jeff. I try to visit each weekend but certainly ever two weeks. We eat lunch together and go over her bills so I can help make sure everything is paid.

  10. Thanks, Charlie!
Looks like you can keep the short pants on indefinitely.
We hit 101° on Saturday and they're predicting up to 7 inches of snow by Wednesday afternoon for the metro area.

  11. I'm glad you and your mom had a nice lunch, Clint. I hope she is doing well. We met a friend in Rochester for lunch and dined inside one day. That was our first indoor dining since mid-March. There were few people in the restaurant (most were eating outside), and everyone was taking precautions. We were there for more than three hours. I didn't realize how much I missed having a nice meal out with friends.

  15. Hello Paul. Thankfully, we are symptom-free with 48 hours left in our self-quarantine. If this graph is correct, we should be out of the woods.

  16. I think we saw that one a few times. :scared011::scared011::scared011: These Hallmark movies are all cliff-hangers. ;)

Did you notice the color coordination? I bet you did.

  17. In fact I rarely do the skin stretching. I face contort like Jim Carrey though!
Question on that, lather slickness interferes, do you lather parts as you go, or all at once?
jtspartan, clint64, jgreenepa and 5 others like this.
  18. Yes, it's me repeatedly touching down blade first, not on an angle either. You'd think I'd learn
  19. Skin stretching while using a shavette was a game changer for me. I will lather my entire face and neck. If needed I'll touch up sections of dried lather as I go. I figure the contact time with the lather just helps condition my beard. I will wet and rub alum on the fingertips of my off-hand. That helps grip the skin even though there is residual slickness from the soap.

Even Geo stretches when he uses a shavette, more so than with DEs. I find myself stretching more with DEs now too.
