Wade & Butcher “The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor For Barber’s Use” And when your blade face is over an inch tall, all of that fits nicely. Been playing with 16 & 12k edges lately, and they have been wonderful. But there is something “just right” about how a Coticule takes care of a big Sheffield blade. Enjoy your shave. Tom
Unknown maker, ‘Superior Temper’, and it is, super hard, fine grained steel. It took me several hours on a slurried Shapton Glass HR 500 just to set the bevel. It’s a bit of an odd duck, the heel says ~1800-1830, the upswept nose and vestigal dip at toe says late 1700s. It’s big, 7/8. Soap was 3P lathered with a Keyhole 2, and Myrsol AB finished up.
A couple of sweet shaves for me... I borrowed my daughter’s blade to bring the edge back in line for her. A rescaled Kaufmann I did for her. And then a simple Joseph Rodgers & Sons. Been a little warm, so really enjoyed the hit of menthol. Enjoy your shave. Tom
It was a very nice shave, Tom. I’ve struggled with getting a real close XTG shave under my neck, but this smiling blade was just the ticket.
