One of them has light wear, the other near new. They’re very nice 11/16 1/4 hollow in original ironing board tortoise scales and dresser case with the Touron Parisot name and address in Paris on it. By the name Touron-Parisot, they can be dated to 1850-1860; before 1850 they were Parisot, and after 1860 they were OOB. I bought them off eBay years ago, the seller described them as ‘faux tortoise’ and of course it could not be, there was no plastic in ~1855. They're actually very nice to use, no gold to wear off the blade and the scales are simply beautiful. The seller was in RI, and I’ve often wondered how they came to the US. What a beauty of a W&B @Karl G !!
Today in my SOTD ... Richards & Conover https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sos-september-2020.64603/page-38#post-1852796 Nice little shaver. Easy to hone, easy to use. Bakelite has a really warm and "natural" color. I find it a beaty to shoot and a pleasure to shave with. Great example that quality must not be expencive. Not at all !!!
Sept 12th Rigarazor 8/8 A couple questions on how the Rigarazor stands on it's own. Hopefully this will quench any mysteries.
September 12 - 19. Working on mastering this Feather DX with a Feather Super! Still a work in progress! I committed to this 7 day focus, but think I’ll be missing my regular straights soon.
Shave 153 today. and I’m making an executive decision to call it done. The edge still shaves well enough, but it’s lost enough closeness and smoothness to be close to the point where I ended my other edge longevity tests. I gave it a few extra shaves just the be sure, and a Filly 14 can shave better than this one is shaving. Still, quite the run and a darned impressive piece of steel! Tip of the hat to Stefan!
Surprisingly it is a lot easier than I expected. The heft is a plus, especially ATG on the upper lip and some thick areas on my chin. It sounds silly but there is an added bonus of not having to clean off the built up lather as often.
Robert Williams “Phoenix” for this smokey Saturday. Beautiful work by his wife on the scales. Enjoy your shave. Tom
