  1. For this morning's shave I tried out the A&E Asian Plum. Remembering how much lather the A&E "The Undersea" made with an (approx.) 30 second load, I dropped to about a 15-20 second load. It might have made a little less lather, but not by a wide margin. I think I added water at least 10 times - probably more. The soap could have easily taken even more. Nonetheless, the lather was incredibly slick. Like, oil on glass slick.

Loaded in the TNNSER was a standard GEM stainless blade (not a PTFE), which isn't a favorite at all. Today, with the deliciously scented, super slick Asian Plum, the blade just slid effortlessly through the stubble. No roughness whatsoever. It still had the buttering toast sound going for it, which is normal for most GEM-style razors. The shave was heavenly, and I was left with a very smooth mug, with zero drama. Nada. Not even a single weeper.

Another nice surprise - As I was finishing, my wife came in and smelled the lather. She totally loves the scent. So much that she asked if they make any "cologney stuff" in that scent. As a matter of fact, yes. Yes they do. That's a huge win, since she seldom pays any attention to the shaving thing, or the scents.

After today's shave, it's gonna be VERY tough to get back on track with the soap samples.

Have a great Sunday evening, fellas!

  2. I've yet to try a double blade. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't fit all injectors, correct?

  4. Well, I think the 30DC has found its new Assistant Chief Shenanigator. I think you're on to something, Andrew. I will follow up with our local Red Hat Society. I'm sure those gals would love to have some RED @MrEE make up brushes. I had already decided against approaching the local Moose Auxiliary as I thought there could be an unfortunate mix up on the brush hair. And then, of course, we have the Grandmother's Club, but I think they've been busy lately with Tabac orders.

  5. Many times, I pick up the DX for the quick shave. Low maintenance.

  6. Same here. It's not like I'm gonna run out of Tabac anytime soon. :)

Please PM the list of "less true" @Primotenore truisms. In the meantime, I'll remain on high alert in case he tries to pull one over on...er...help us. ;)

  7. Thanks Bruce! I'm really glad you decided to join up with us this month! I carry that Kent thing to comb my eyebrow, nose, and ear hair.

  8. Thank you, Jim! It was heavenly indeed! Curious about the Asian Plum aftershave splash...is it a long lasting scent, or does it dissipate quickly? Debating on just the AS, or also ordering the EDT.

  10. I'm just an occasional "drop-in" for this month. I'm glad to see that you are back, and I hope all is going well for you and the bride. I'm certain you're both beyond glad to finally be back home.

  11. good news Evan..:)
  12. The aftershave has decent longevity but if SWMBO enjoys the scent how can you not get the EDTtoo.

  13. Thanks Andrew! Mad Max is very efficient that I get the closest shaves. My 31 hr stubble was lighter then normal because of the prior shave with Mad Max. I still need 2.5 passes with touchups to get a BBS shave with Mad Max and any other razor in my den. Finally, I was comfortable with Mad Max after my 3rd shave with it. Presently, I want to slightly tweak my technique with it to see if I can improve on my shave.

  14. I'm not playing any truth or dare games.....lack of inventory.

What I also don't have in inventory is Tabac.

I should probably get some of that, and some Lilac Vegetal.

Then I can join in some of the good scraps. I'm tired of saying straight shaving is easy and anybody can do it.

  18. Thanks Bruce. It's always fun when you join in.

Yes, we're glad to be home. My Bride feels better and is eating more by the day. Her heart function has improved dramatically (the chemo had caused her heart to weaken significantly), and we learned on Friday from our cardiologist that she expects a full recovery based on the latest echocardiogram. We couldn't ask for better news. We are blessed indeed.

  19. Whoa! Stating the obvious, that is a huge mailcall. Looks like some great stuff and the razor head sounds like a good one.
Have any unwelcome ingrown hairs appeared after the shave today?
  20. Excellent shave and a great mail call Bill!
