For this morning's shave I tried out the A&E Asian Plum. Remembering how much lather the A&E "The Undersea" made with an (approx.) 30 second load, I dropped to about a 15-20 second load. It might have made a little less lather, but not by a wide margin. I think I added water at least 10 times - probably more. The soap could have easily taken even more. Nonetheless, the lather was incredibly slick. Like, oil on glass slick.
Loaded in the TNNSER was a standard GEM stainless blade (not a PTFE), which isn't a favorite at all. Today, with the deliciously scented, super slick Asian Plum, the blade just slid effortlessly through the stubble. No roughness whatsoever. It still had the buttering toast sound going for it, which is normal for most GEM-style razors. The shave was heavenly, and I was left with a very smooth mug, with zero drama. Nada. Not even a single weeper.
Another nice surprise - As I was finishing, my wife came in and smelled the lather. She totally loves the scent. So much that she asked if they make any "cologney stuff" in that scent. As a matter of fact, yes. Yes they do. That's a huge win, since she seldom pays any attention to the shaving thing, or the scents.
After today's shave, it's gonna be VERY tough to get back on track with the soap samples.
Have a great Sunday evening, fellas!
