    Exactly. Everyone needs to find a routine that works for them, and that can take time. Or change over time, even. I wouldn't recommend my routine to someone else, particularly if they're new to traditional shaving. As long as you reach your goal, how you get there doesn't really matter.

    After using the DX, I had to start devoting more time on prep than I had slouched into.

    Started doing something I saw Glen do. He lathered, then did his stropping, then held a hot washcloth on his face and relathered. Even if the edge is off, it seems like the extra hydrating helps the finished product to be more consistent.

    The DX......... I just change blades.

    Unfortunately this was an unplanned repair. We had budgeted for repairs and renovations so it just gets moved to a different item on the list. Next is some door and window replacements. After the new year is to renovate the bathrooms.

    I'm finding the same with regard to not shaving on unlathered areas. It's easier to track results when the number of passes are approximately identical too - less irritation is a positive bonus.

    Paul H also shaves just two days per week. I'd be willing to bet his shaving style would change if he was a daily shaver.
