The couple of times I had Williams, the instructions were the same: Put puck at bottom of mug. Fill mug with hot water. Rinse water out. Begin shaving. At 18 and 40, that's a pretty vintage year.
Thank you Bruce-in fact this, I believe, is the first time I had back-to-back cream TOTs. . Going for the trifecta tomorrow.
Well to end my 7 day challenge that turned into something else, I went back to the original combination of RR BBS razor, Lucky Tiger cream soap and GSB blades and again had the glass like head shave and BBS face and BBS- neck. So now I know, if I want to be sure to be beautifully dome shiny, that can be my go-to combo. Now what to do with all these other blades and soaps, LOL.
You don't even need to do that with Williams. Not even the modern version. Honestly, I think it does even better if you don't soak (or bloom, or whatever you want to call it). Just use a slightly damp brush and load for about 30-40 seconds, then face lather. You won't get a ton of buttercream-looking lather, but that's perfectly fine. Slickness is what wins the game.
NO!!!!! Take the puck out and grate it on the fine part of a box grater. Then press it back into the mug. DO NOT THROW IT AWAY.
Y'know, I should have added that your way is the way I've prepared other pucks(like Burma Shave). Worked out well enough.
Sounds like you have a winning combo, David! You might want to hang onto the other blades and soaps and revisit them sometime down the road.
SEptember 18th Razor: OneBlade Hybrid Blade: Feather FHS-10 (2) Brush: Elite Razor/Simpson Sovereign synthetic Pre-shave: PAA Mentholated Cube Soap: Stirling Mountain Man Stirling Orange Chill Witch Hazel Stirling Glacial Balm AS: Stirling Mountain Man Stirling SEptember Good morning! Excellent shave to finish my seven days with the OneBlade Hybrid. This mini focus has reaffirmed how much I enjoy this razor. I started with The Core, moved up to the Hybrid and now see myself getting the Genesis. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the upcoming sales. Have a great day! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
SEptember Focus A&E Chasing the Dragon~~Simpson "The Hive"~~Heljestrand MK32 Well, if there is a definition for sloppy lather, this was it. What a mess! The lather was flying. Even for a shaver, who likes wet lather, I mos def© over-hydrated. Slickness was there, but I sacrificed some density and by proxy, cushion. The Swedish steel made quick work of the minimal stubble-territory. Two passes and some edge work for a DFS++ Finished with the matching AS. Shweet.
You think that will help it lather if soaking doesn't? I know that may sound like a dumb question, I've just never really understood how that process works.
